From $250k/yr to homeless in 3 & 1/2 yrs...
First, it was Sophia's medical problems that depleted every nickel we had...and my husband's retirement, etc. Then, we lost our business...and last fall his job. We were in a special agreement for the last 6 months with our mortgage company. It gave us a lower payment while he tried to find work. In exchange, we agreed to pay a higher payment after 6 months, or get out within 20 days.
That time is here. My DH just talked to the mortgage company and we have to be out June 30th. Oddly we have NEVER BEEN LATE ON OUR MORTGAGE. And still are not. But, if they don't get $3500 by June 9th, we have to be out on the 30th.
I'm on strict bed rest and cannot help pack. :-( We have no place to go...what an odd position to be in.
Our house was a very COMFORTABLE payment for us...we've been here for 7 yrs. But, life turned upside down for us.
I know God has us covered. I know He knows where we will go. But this is so very hard. After the call, my husband began vomiting violently and could not stand. This is killing him.
Please lift us up in prayer.

Prayers and I/we realize it could be any one of us.
Hugs to you, my friend. I am so sorry you are going through this. I agree with the comments above that you should look into those mortgage assistance programs right away. There just HAS to be a way... You are in my thoughts and prayers.

im so sorry this is happening to you and your family. next time definalty try to live a simplier lifestyle as oppose to luxury/show. my parents made the change from living comfortably with nice homes, cars, etc to living in a 3 apartment without multiple cars, multiple vacations, etc we have found out were MUCH happier than before. wish you well
I am so sorry; I can not image how you and your family are feeling right now. Praying for you and your family! Hugs!
I am so sorry. Please know that you are in my prayers.
LOL NO worries here...we were not living a showy life!! It is EXPENSIVE to live in the Seattle area...we bought a home way below what we could have with a conservative fixed rate mortgage. But we did give away a lot of money that we felt God called us to give (instead of always saving) and we did get blindsided by Sophia\'s medical issues. It actually made me chuckle out loud to hear someone say we might be showy! Even in our wealthy times, we shop at thrift stores and were careful about spending.
We cannot qualify for an apartment for a family of 4 (soon to be 5) in our area at all. It looks like we may all be piling into a tiny room at a friend\'s house...but it is still early in the game...God is working.
But we DID have 2 cars and needed them with my DH traveling for work and our 3 yr old in Seattle Children\'s hospital all the time, so maybe that made us showy? LOL The car we had a loan for (the one taken when we had to file bankruptcy on our daughter\'s medical stuff), was STRONGLY required by DH\'s employer because he wanted their members to be chauffeured around in something better than we owned before. Still was not a stretch for us 5 yrs ago to buy a car for him...but we wanted to finance since it was only a business vehicle and could serve as a deduction. It was NOT something our whole family could fit in, so we let it go with the bankruptcy. Why not? Credit already destroyed...but as a person who used to stand in judgment of others and their financial decisions, I can understand why someone would suggest we lived beyond our means. We didn\'t. Someone could say we should have hoarded money...we didn\'t do that either. We lived simply and gave generously. And we trust God.
Katrina...how absolutely horrible....and I know everyone says that God only gives us what he thinks we can handle...I say Bah...sometimes its just too much....I am praying for your family especially your husband...i know how terribly difficult this must be for him....it is really hard for men sometimes...they being the providers and all....I have been where you are.....albiet I was a single mom with 3 little kids to house and feed....I remember how bad it felt to collect welfare benefits to be looked as less than a citizen and to have an ex-husband who made $$$$$ and refused to pay child support because he felt the $$$ was going to me....he would literally steal things from the house when he picked the kids up...things that made their lives nicer like a television and nintendo...and he used to tell them that he paid for these things so they were his....guess where they wanted to go all the time....the table has turned...but enough about me....please know that I truley hope that things will find a way to work themselves out...funny how they do that....and take care of yourself....BIG HUGS!!!!
Your attitude and outlook are amazing. Praying for you and your family. What does your hubby do? Perhaps we might know someone... It\'s all networking, right? Big hugs, Corrine
Thank you sweet ladies!! My DH has essentially worked in Government and Legal Affairs his whole life. He has a legal brain (the actually have now hired 3 full time attorneys to try to fill his shoes), but my DH is NOT a lawyer. He is brilliant and understands all facets of law and the legislative process... As an Executive VP he managed 5 states and had lobbyists who worked for him..he helped write legislation/regulations and prepared and presented testimony before congress and the various state legislatures. He is excellent with people and can read every hidden agenda a person has in a matter of minutes...he is phenomenal negotiator! He is an excellent manager of people and is not the kind of guy who will stab someone in the back to get ahead at all...total TEAM PLAYER...great at recognizing people\'s gifts and helping them harness and develop their talents. He has glowing reviews and recommendations...even from the greedy SOB who fired him trying to save money. It has cost that jerk dearly and nearly cost him his job..But, in order to keep our benefits as long as we had them, DH had to sign an agreement that he would not tell anyone that he was forced out...he had to pretend he left for a better job!!! So, all of his contacts never knew he needed a job...or we would have lost our insurance. I\'m sure there are other details I should be giving, but I don\'t know what might be pertinent to someone...Oh, he is an UBER-genius with computers, too...his previous employers had tech people on staff and they always needed DH\'s helps with stuff...he taught them how to fix their network issues and established technology guidelines for them. He is good at everything he touches, EXCEPT HE IS HORRIBLE with anything related to TOOLS. LOL DO NOT ASK HIM TO HANG A PICTURE!! Or do something PHYSICAL. LOL
Hi, I don\'t know you and I am rarely on DS anymore but I saw a friend commented to you and read your journal. You are definitely in my prayers. Continue to give it to God. I like your attitude that He is in control. Jenmink gave good advice about the modification. My family has een struggling with jobloss and layoff after layoff for a few years. We were a month away from losing our house when I told DH to call one more time and we qualified for a modification program. It was 7 months of sending paystubs and tax returns and state.ents of need, but in the end they lowered our payment by 1/2. I was pregnant at this time too, so I totally feel for you. Encourage your husband to hold his head high and have faith. I will be praying for him too....... It was hard on my husband too, and I don\'t think he has fully recovered since we still struggle financially. God provides though. We have a roof over our head, shoes on our feet and food in our bellies. Hang in there.
I am so sorry to hear this =( We are currently going through a foreclosure on our condo (it was a stragtegic move) and have to be out June 4th. That is insane that they are kicking you out so quickly! We haven\'t paid our mortgage since July of last year so I am surprised that the bank is so quick to get you out! We tried to short sale our condo but the bank refused all offers....lame! Oh well...the condo will be theirs now and they can deal with it. Luckily we have a home that I own that we are moving to so the hit will be hard on my husband\'s credit but it really is the best move right now...considering we are having triplets.
I am just so sorry to hear all of this....I know what you mean living in an expensive area. I live in the Silicon Valley and anything decent to live in is over $500k.
Again I am so sorry....I am just so surprised that the bank is kicking you out so quickly! Mine took almost a year!
I am so terribly sorry that you and your family are having to go through all of this. You are in my prayers!
