Friends, embraces

I know we are each talking about this in different ways. It's coming to the forefront of my awareness too. And from it, I'm inspired to embrace all my friends here with gratitude and caring for the ride we are sharing.

‘I never thought my life would be like this.’

I think I have come to a milestone in life and development.

I’m knowing we each may not have had total control over the path our life charted.

We each have changes within us too that we have to deal with and provide external structures to help us keep aligned with the job of taking care of our lives and at the business we choose to support ourselves.

These externals for someone like me can be thought of as constants. I hope I am choosing good constants. The monastery has been indeed'constants.'

I’m thinking of a friend of my mom’s, Anna D. In her 60s she suddenly was divorced and her income changed. She had a talent for make-up that she had used before in production of film and tv and so she went back to that. She literally said 'I never thought it would be this way (life.)' But she did it and made enough money to yield a supplementary income.

Then she went back to Britain.

The more I am here the more brotherly I am getting. I just never thought it would be like this. Me in the world of less constants is something I can do. I just hope I'll keep grounded.

Looking forward to talking to my therapist soon

I’m thinking maybe one of the constants is each other.

"I’m knowing we each may not have had total control over the path our life charted."

Reading your journal made me think of a quote that I like: "If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans." Life is unpredictable, and we have limited control over what happens. We have choices and make decisions that can lead us in a certain direction. But circumstances, health, relationships, and timing all play their roles.

I like your discussion of constants. Of course, even constants shift. In my opinion, what is important is our ability to adapt when those shifts happen. (Anna is a great example.) We often discover just how capable we are when life throws us a curveball. I sense that you're more capable than you give yourself credit for.

I hope your appointment with your therapist goes well. Hugs.
