Fresh Head

I committed the Feminine Heresy again. I checked with the primary core of people I *want* to be seen in public with to be certain they were okay being seen with a Lady Heretic and I let Hubs run the razor so that he could feel more like a co-conspirator than a victim of all the "SHE looks like. . ." jokes.

Ah, the sweet, sweet luxury of being able to stop a head sweat with a damp rag. Sweat soaked pillows are a not so easy to live with, life-long benefit of my thick, enviable hair. In the harsh, sub-tropical heat, I have had periods where my head stayed sweat soaked for months on end. Itch city. . . Ah, the price of *beauty* with not so much as a spike heel or cosmetic torture device in my armory.

Of all the twisted jokes that surface when I shave my head, the "Cancer Girl" jokes are my least favorite. Don't make light of a desperate situation, Bimbo! I'm just dealing with hot flashes. My shaved head hasn't inspired that grossery since the 90's, but the fashion world recycles everything, eventually. I hope that joke set hasn't had time to grow old enough to be new. The rest of the appearance jokes I can handle. I let them reflect on the joker more than the jokee. Yes, Dear, I look like a boy. It's an upgrade over looking like a 65 year old "Young Lady."

For all the times I have shaved my head, I have never onced been asked my gender. It is always, "SHE looks like. . ."

The entire world is a fool for a woman's hair. . .

The hot flashes only pushed me over the top. Head sweating is a common side effect of super thick hair that has plagued my entire life. My hair is thick enough to make my head sweat, even in sub-zero temperatures. I love hats, but they do not love me.

The hot flashes are far less sucky when you can stop 'em with a single swipe of a damp cloth. No need to special order or carry prosthetics. Oh what a relief it is. . . Relief enough to look for humor in the horrified reactions. Are the fashion nazis still calling it, "Self-mutilation?"

I heard about "the change" from my mom. I feel that if you compare men and women to cars...... Women are Ferrari's. They have specialized and temperamental equipment. You could use a pair of tweezers to adjust their settings. Men on the other hand are ugly, and functional like Jeeps. If they break, you can wack em with a hammer to get their alternator bearing unstuck.

Women definitely have more sensitive equipment. (I'm not trying to be sexist by saying that)

We can agree to disagree, my stereotyping friend. More Monty Python charm school?

Even where the stereotypes are as righteous as a marble statue, I like to leave room for the exceptions to be exceptional.

I envy your thick hair. What remains of mine is being sustained by Propecia. It works so I have my hair still! :)

I have never shaved my head. I have a very big face and would probably look hysterically out of place. It might be fun
though. Have a super Sunday Arf!
