Frequency of TDoc and Doc

Wondering how often each of you sees your docs and for how long.  I was talking with the front desk secretary of my PDoc and it sounded like there are some very different schedules out there.

Frequency/Duration now: TDoc weekly for 1 hour, PDoc every four weeks for 30 min

Highest Frequency/Duration: TDoc twice weekly for 1 hour, PDoc three times a week for 1 hour

TDoc is always pressuring me to come in twice a week.  She says it would be good but I don't know if I can admit that I am that screwed up to require seeing her twice a week.  And it takes me several days to process and consider what we talked about.  Am I that screwed up?  Should I go twice?

I think it varies I have to go once a month for pdoc for medicines the P doc sets the schedule On how many times they want to see you? Sometimes once a week sometimes every other sometimes once a month and if you go to therapy, which is T dock They make their own schedule as well and they tell you when they want to see you. So it depends. When I'm not doing well, I go in every week to see pdoc From there if I improve they push me out every other week and then they'll push me to once a month. That's my schedule. So I don't know about anyone else.

If you think it's too much for you to go to them talk to them and discuss it. Tell them you want a different schedule if possible.

If they think you can have a different schedule.

Pdoc normally once a month, right now every 2 weeks to work through some things. I don't do Tdocs anymore, my Pdoc covers everything.

You need to remember it's not about your "screwedupedness" it's about how willing you are to work on your issues and learn coping skills so you don't have to see her 2 times per week. Flip that switch my friend.

Yes, I work on myself everyday, and I do have coping skills, but it does help to talk about things here. Thanks. I go once a month. To my P. Doc

S, you are dealing with the ECT. Schedules vary depending on what the docs see as needed. Sometimes it has been weekly, or twice weekly. I'd go for all I can get when I can. Just suit up and show up, share your concerns about feeling you are being seen as really screwed up, and see what they have to say. Trust me when I say that they are keeping you OP versus IP as a good sign. Comforting and calming hugs.

What do you have to lose Thor? Self-care has not been your strong point. How about trying on good self-care for size and see how it feels?

MayB - Interesting tact. I seem to be unable to see good self-care. I know what it looks like but I can not internalize what that is and how to put it into practice. This weekend has been tough with a lot of self-doubts. It would be easier to go back into the hospital than to keep up the struggle. I guess self-care is not my strong suit.

Hi Thor I'm not doing that well either. I'm doing the best I can with self-care but I have to just take it day-by-day. It's really tough I feel like I have a virus along with having an out-of-control bipolar problem. But medication is helping bipolar problem. The only thing that's helping like I feel like I have a virus is resting. It sucks. You can't do much.
