@ billwfriend....I don't like it as well as the regular rock salt, but I get it because I have pets. The difference is, the rock salt will melt the ice provided it's not below zero cold but even if it is, it will provide traction to keep me from slipping on the ice. The ice melt that's safe for pets is alot more expensive and all it does in burn a tiny little hole in the ice so I have to use alot of it in order to be able to break up the ice, but I get it because I want a safe environment for the dogs. It's amazing the things we go through for our pets!
