Free Food
Today they were giving away food from stores that can't use it for some reason or another, so instead of throwing it away they give it to people and they use that for free food giveaways. It was supposed to start at 9, but we got in line at 8:45. The line was already a mile and a half long. Poor Lisa and I sat in a hot car for 3 hours just to get the food. She was just wasted from the heat. Then she had to go to work. Every time we seemed to be getting somewhere the cars would stop and then had to go through a zig zag line. I got a ton of milk, a whole chicken, lots of veggies and fruit and bananas and tomatoes. I have a feeling we are going to be having tomatoes a lot. That and banana bread. I wouldn't want to do that again. But it was good. I've been waking up early in the morning and feeling pretty good. I just have my coffee and I'm ready to go. I've been doing well lately... just haven't gotten around to doing journals. My mom got approved for disability but she won't see any money until October. Then she can come visit me and we can go places. I want to have her down here just for a change in scenery.. She's living in a trailer with another guy (2 bedroom, 2 bath) and is broke. When she gets her money that should help a lot. Anyway, I want to wake up early again, so I'm going to call it a night!

Its grea that you have been waking up early! I struggle with that as most night I cant get to sleep until around 12am. Thats awesum you got free food. Banana bread is so yummy! :)
such a long wait for the food, but worth it. they don\'t do anything like that here, everyone is afraid of liability if the food is bad so they just throw out, it is awful the food that is thrown just at my store. so good to read you are doing good and getting up earlier, way to go! hugss
What a long wait and in that heat! Lucky it was in the morning. Will you be able to use it all while it is still in good condition or will you freeze some for later?
the free food sounds great. we don\'t have anything like that here. we have a food co-op that you join, but its not good anymore. dollar general is actually cheaper. the co-op people got greedy and its not 75% off anymore, even though its bump and dent. it was good for a while.
great about your mum\'s disability coming through. is she going to buy a condo or house with the lump sum? there are many areas in florida that she can do that and real estate is cheap. st. pete, has places like that and so does north florida.
My mom is not getting any back pay for some reason. SSA said she wouldn\'t get it, so she is stuck until October when her benefits kick in.
Such a long wait. How did you hear about the give away? Enjoy the food. I hope your mom does ok til she gets the money. what a shame that they make her wait for such a long time for the benefits. It will be great when she can come and visit. What happened to her and her husband? I know you said they were having problems but didn\'t\' she move to with him?
