Forgiveness Goal
When I went to therapy last week. I discussed my inability to forgive some people who have been very heartless and cruel. I am learning how to use affirmations to forgive. Basically saying affirmations every day to help me achieve my goal of forgiveness. When I think about my x's family, I feel anxious, disappointed, sad, and angry. I am working on reframing these feelings to compassion for them as they are miserable people. A person who would cause so much damage to someone's life has to be unhappy and miserable. This is what I will be working on, and my hope is to let go of my anger as it doesn't serve me at all. I was watching the movie "Wild" with Reese Witherspoon. The main character self destructed after her mother's death. Losing a child can lead to the same self destructing behavior. I feel like I need to be in a place where I understand that everything that has happened to me brought me to the place I am right now. I'm not there, not even close but I'm working on it. I miss my son like crazy, but I can't change it. I can't take his place, and I can't go back in time to prevent it. Love to all For Moms Only as we have a very difficult journey of grief.

For me, forgiveness was a process. It isn\'t easy but I kept telling myself that the feelings of anger and resentment were hurting me, not my SIL. Your ex\'s family sound particularly cruel. It is just the pits that they go out to hurt people.
I like the idea of affirmations. I have forgiven but I will never forget. I am just lucky to live on the opposite side of the country!
There are moms who were not able to see light at the end of the tunnel. You are doing great and life does slowly look brighter.
Love and tight hugs,

I have the same issues with my ex husbands family. They are very negative people. I admire you for working on the forgiveness.

Oh forgiveness can be a lifelong journey. This is one of my struggles too. Therapists can help us see things from a different perspective. My therapist helped me see that the anger I feel towards some people can actually be deep seeded hurt. When I focus on the hurt rather than the anger I seem to begin to heal. Hang in there Chris, you are doing a good job of taking care of yourself.
Here at For Moms Only we truly understand how difficult this journey is. We walk it with you arm in arm with heart connections.
Hugs of compassion.....Vicki
Chris, I am so glad you are able to see a therapist who can help you with this. We have so many emotions after losing a child that other negative emotions can swallow us whole. Good for you for your attempt and dedication to forgiveness. You helped me think with using compassion for horrible people. So true!
Thank you so much for your thoughts. I am seeing my therapist today and it always helps. I can\'t imagine how I would be doing without therapy, compassionate friends, and this wonderful online support group. You guys have helped me soooo much. every time I feel sad and depressed, I log on and I always get the support that gets me through the moment. Thank you all so much. I\'m grateful for all of my friends on FOR MOMS ONLY. You are all the best and I\'m so glad you all understand the everyday struggles that no one else can possibly understand.
Love and Hugs to you all,
Chris
