First trip without you.

Tomorrow morning at 3:15am, I will board a train with Mom and Connie and head to Santa Fe. It will take us 12 hours to get there. I have mixed emotions. It is the one place you and I talked about retiring to someday. You always said you'd go anywhere I wanted to and that was my pick. You hated the heat and would have rather have gone back to Indiana or Minnesota. Somewhere cooler. But you knew I hate being cold and said you'd go somewhere hot, just for me.
So, I am going on this trip as a memory for you. To see the things we would have seen together. To take those photos we spoke about so that I can come back and paint. I have decided to paint again in honor of you, because you loved to sit and watch me paint. I will paint something beautiful from this trip.
I wish you were here baby. I miss you.
