First postop visit today.... and my scale relationship part II
Today was my first follow up appointment since surgery! Funny thing is it seems surreal that I am even writing about post op stuff! I cannot believe I am here now.... it seemed it was going to take forever to get here, but then one day it like all happened!! Hard to explain!
So anyways.... if you've read my other journal entries or my posts... you probably know I've had an unhealthy relationship with the scale. Somewhere over the years I have given the scale more power than it should ever have! For hecks sake... its a tool and nothing more!
I have decided to take back my power and made a plan to work on this... One of those things I had to do was to feel whatever emotions the scale brought with it today when I stepped on it.... (Another was to journal about the experience).
So, today, first thing of course, they have you 'climb on'.... Its one of those big ones, so you do have to kind of climb on! LOL!
Before I did that... I looked him (the scale) square in the eyes (LED readout) and said "Look dude... we gotta make this relationship work, and i'm taking my power back!" (ok, the nurse was standing there.... so I said these things in my head!) I took a deep breath, and on.... And you know what the scale did??? It just did its job, and nothing more!
My friend (Linda) asked me today if my scale (at home) was still in the witness protection program! I love that! But yes he is... and he is only allowed to come visit me once a month. I figure this is healthy, besides any more often than that and my hubby will start feeling insecure! :) LOL!
As I made this decision today to only visit my scale once a month (at home, doc appts do not count).... I found it so hard to tell my hubby (who has control of the scale now while its in the witness protection program). Because once I tell him, well, its real and he will NOT let it come out more often that that!!
Finally I found my courage and told him.... He knows of my unhealthy relationship with Scale... so he was very surprised I only want to visit with him/scale once a month! He asked me like 3 times if I was sure! :)
Its done now.... once a month (for 3 months then re-eval) around the 24th (surgery date).... Whew! Feels good to have my power back!
For the appointment.... (sorry it took so long to get here!) Here's the deal. My BP was 110/64 and I've been off BP meds since surgery!! This is amazing!! I am off my metformin for diabetics for good now! And the scale???? I am down 13.5 lbs in 13 days! This makes my total lossĀ 40 lbs since the very 1st day I saw the surgeon back in January (2013).
My next weigh in will be around the 24th of August... (at home) and my next surgeon appt is Oct. 31st :) Oh, and I am able to add it foods as I see fit from here on out.... :) My first meal of real food was 1oz of chicken breast, 1oz of avocado and 6 green beans :)

WOW! You are doing wonderfully! Keep it up!
Scales are pretty sneaky that way, good thing you got a warden to watch over him! And you are concurring your tie with it as well!
