First Meeting
Tonight, I attended my first widow/widowers support group meeting. There was a pretty good size group, about 15 women and 2 men. I was really glad that I went, it was really nice to be in a group that honestly understands what I am going through.
Like I said in my last entry, I am not one to reach out for help, but I am glad I did. I am actually looking forward to the next meeting, it meets twice a month.
I want to thank all my friends on here for all their support and encourgement. You all have become an important part of my life.

I\'m glad it went well for you. There is help out there and it does ease the burdon of this grief trip at least for a night or two.

Karen,
I am so proud of you! I know it was probably difficult for you to go. But you did it, and it was good. You keep going, and when you have something to say, speak up. You have learned a lot here on DS and you are a smart woman. Help those other folks on their journey. Big ((((((hugs)))))) to you.

I\'m glad you tried it, and liked it. Some nights I feel like it really helps, and other nights I feel like I didn\'t learn anything new. It\'s nice to hear that you are getting along with your group. I have heard that some here have not been so lucky. Keep taking those steps!
Karen,
So glad you went! When you have a good group and good group leader, it really helps. That is a large group! Hope you find friends for life and the courage needed for this journey.
Hugs, Joely
Glad it worked out. Kip.

Good for you Karen. I hope to follow your example in the near future. I have been feeling apprehensive about it, but after hearing from you, I feel a little more confident about going. Wishing you well, Linda
Happy for you! I read in a book recently, \"No one understands widowhood like another widow\". Glad you have found some others who understand and hope that you can make some lasting friendships to help you along this journey!

I\'m happy for you, Karen, that the group therapy helped - I\'m going for my first \"one-on-one\" session with a counselor on Tues.- I felt that this would be better for me - All I know is that it\'s good when we realize we need a little more help and then can reach out for it - this is tough shit we\'re going through. And sometimes, we do need a little more help. Good luck to you.
Great you made that first step..........and feels good to \"fit\" in with a group
