Finally met my real psychiatrist

Today I woke up at the god-awful early time of 7am so that I could drive up and be at the VA Medical Center by 8 for my very first appointment with my primary psychiatrist. I have been waiting two months for this.
I was depressed on the way there, but once I arrived I had the pleasant distraction of bumping into a friend of mine from college. So we talked while we waited in the lobby for our appointments.
The appointment went well, lots of questions and reviewing my history of care with the crisis clinic. In the end she made two changes to my meds.
First, she upped my dosage of Abilify to 15mg a day. She said that this should also help with the depressive episodes too.
Second, Buspar: She was confused when I told her about the switch from 10mg 3 times a day to 15 twice a day, saying that this isn't an increase, and it won't make a difference. So she upped that dosage to 15mg three times a day. Oh boy, this will be interesting. I have been paying attention to how I feel after taking the Buspar and I do get a little spacey, but not that much. Not nearly as bad as when I first started Buspar two months ago.
From there I had to wait for the meds at the pharmacy, which I got to spend with my friend from college as I bumped into him again as I was heading out of the appointment. That kept me cheered up.

After I was done at the VA Medical Center I had to travel all the way back to my local area for another medical appointment, but this was physical. I got depressed during the trip, but distracted during the appointment.
After that I went to the local Kia dealership. There I found out that I am approved for financial aid after a credit check, I took a look at some of the cars too while I was there. That was entirely depressing.
I went home once I was done at the Kia dealership and basically just laid down in bed, unbelievably depressed. That is, until I started getting phone calls. Phone calls from the medical clinic for whatever reasons and phone calls from supports and friends, one after another. The timing was shocking. That all got me roused out of bed after a while, and I got on my computer for a bit before going to my meeting.
I was still depressed at the meeting, then afterwards even went to karaoke with my boyfriend and other friends and I was STILL depressed, in fact it may have been getting worse with all these people having fun around me! I spent a lot of time spacing out and staring at various spots in front of me. It wasn't fun.
Then I came home, day over. A very depressing day. Maybe tomorrow won't be quite so depressing, but I am not counting on it.
