Finally Happening

They say I'm losing weight.  I say they because I have no idea because this time I did something different: I threw away my scale.  In the past I found myself celebrating my weight loss by eating.  And if I didn't lose weight I'd eat anyway out of anger.  I'd say to myself, 'all that starving for nothing' then I'd eat a cake.

But not this time.  I'm staying away from the scales.  All I've noticed is that my clothes are fitting better and men are starting to notice which sort of scares me.  This time I came up with a plan.  I'm a dessertoholic.  I love it, eating whole pies in one sitting.  I eat healthy too:  whole grain, vegetables, fruit, everyday.  But then I blow it with dessert.  I've got a popcorn habit too.  They provide free popcorn at work, and I eat my share each day.  Funny part is I don't even like the stuff.  I eat it because it's there.
So here is how I beat my problem.
1) I don't weigh myself.
2) I told everyone at work that if I eat popcorn on any day besides Saturday, that I would give two people ten dollars.
3) I don't keep desserts in the house.  Instead I have a big bag of candy in the trunk of my car.  I allow myself a handfull each time I drive.  I allow myself a handfull to come inside the house or work.  Once it's gone.  That's it.
I'm thrilled that I'm getting slimmer.  My goal is to lose enough weight by March 31 which is the one year anniversary of my husband's death.

good going, I\'ve noticed since I don\'t get on the scale anymore, (at the dr appointment I\'d lost weight) it\'s helped me also. Clothes are getting baggy so that is good. I\'ve done about the same thing, a couple pieces of candy now and then, more vegetables and more fruit. Keep up the good work...hugs, Sandi

Congratulations! You found a method that works for you. I lost weight after Smokey died. With Dave, he cooks good so I think I gained 10 pounds. I am not concerned about my weight. The person in my life has to accept me just the way that I am. I am not changing for any man. If I lose weight, it is for myself and that is it. I am so proud of you. All the best from Diane B.

Way to go. It just feels great to be able to wear the clothes you love and the fit much better.
I found I\'ve lost weight.... not intentionally. Just that cooking for one is not much fun. So, I don\'t cook the big meals, I used to.
Keep it up... Linda
