Final preparation
Now that everything is sorted out with the proof of marriage, I have to take a set of clothing over to the funeral home when I pick up the death certificate...another stark reminder that he is gone. I can't find one of his slippers...and it's upsetting me greatly...I have to get this stuff to them for the viewing on Sunday...having real trouble dealing with this still...found a bunch of his poetry, much of it about me...heart breaking...I just can't believe he's really gone...I have this dull ache in the pit of my stomach that won't go away...

Sending you love as you go through the days ahead. Sharon
Thank you Sharon...the funeral director just stopped by a couple of minutes ago with the death certificate...looking at that was like he passed away all over again...
I also felt my heart was physically broken, for at least a week. I never experienced anything like that before.
I\'m sure you don\'t want to make anything harder for your son. Are you delegating enough for him? He must also feel bereft. My 25 yo daughter was a big help, making arrangements with the funeral home and stuff. Asking him for help with things might actually help him too.
At the funeral, the rabbi told me some day the whole period between death and burial would become a blur. I don\'t want it to blur, it was painful, but the funeral service and the friends and family that were there meant a lot to me. I want to remember it, for the living who showed respect and love at that time.
And yes, that death certificate is a big blow. My wife\'s read like a novel: cause of death: heart failure caused by lung failure caused by kidney failure caused by liver failure...
I can say that the group here on DS has helped a lot. Hang in there, we\'re here when you need us
