Feeling a bit yucky today
I usually do not have throat symptoms in the morning. Going to be one of those days, so after finishing work with hubby this morning I jumped on the couch for a nap. Now slept for an hour before the handyman showed up to pressure wash the house.
So, I still have millions of questions that go through my head at times. Do others have this strange throat sensation (tightness or ache for lack of a better word) when things are going badly in the swallowing department? Do people feel like they have a huge rubber band around their chest when their breathing is off (I do?) Does chewing problems mean that lips, cheek, and tongue get in the way of your teeth? (Mine do and once bitten I am sure to bite for a day, so I give up for the day.)
Will I always have to eat with somebody? How do single people do this? I now see my husband and want to shove my face full of food. LOL Worst part of that is that he usually comes late evening. I have been cheating on that rule and have promised to try harder.
How many people with MG have had hyperparathyroidism, Grave's disease, Lupus? And the one issue that has never really fit in the autoimmune category for me, but the cardiologist said I have had it since birth (never quite believed him) is an intermittent prolonged QT interval. Can it be caused by MG?
Things that roll through my brain while waiting for symptoms to get better...

Hi Debbie. Sounds as though you are having some pretty bad symptoms. Have you contacted your neuro? I would\'nt hesitate to leave a message with his answering service. I am worried about you. Be careful with thin liquids too. Are you losing weight?
I have been diagnosed with discoid lupus (skin only type). Last summer and fall I developed some pretty nasty looking lesions on my face and on my scalp. They did a biopsy and was then diagnosed. They did some other antibody and other testing for RA and lupus and all the testing was negative.
I have had hypothyroidism for the last 10 years. I have read that hyperthyroidism, lupus and graves disease is not uncommon with MG. I also developed a benign arrhythmia about 10 years ago. (we seem to have opposite conditions as far as thyroid and heart go)
Thinking of you and wishing you the best.
Hugs,
sherry
Sherry, thanks for caring. Sounds like you have been through the medical wringer, too. I am a lot better today. The chest and throat sx always frighten me, I fired my neuro (or at least the nurse practioner that was handling his cases) as she did not even have the time to explain what it means when you fail a swallow study. I now have to wait until December to see the neuromuscular specialist that handles MG that my GP has referred to me. My GP is very kind and supportive, but has no clue of what to do for me. I hope she will see about getting me in quicker with the doc when I see her next month again. The good news is today I feel much better.
