family ties.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. today is a rest day. i had a burst of energy Saturday and used it. it was enjoyable to do things around the house for a short time with a real happy heart.
always the first to admit how surprised i am that i still have these conditions. that they are so intense. they are like the weather, unpredictable in nature, yet always consistent because we can count on always having weather right?!?! Chronic illness weather can really rattle you during the "however long it will take to recup" time of PEM or a crash/flare.
I suppose it sounds odd, comparing illness like this to weather, but it makes sense to me. The internal weather in the body due to a suppressed immune system determines the strength, ferocity and velocity of the storm. Sometimes it is a simpler thunderstorm....a few limbs down, the loss of a few shingles off the roof. Other times it is a tornado or an earthquake......or a hurricane. The changing directions and pressure systems.......all of it directly impacts the place it hits. That is so like how it is for me...I was able to move around on steady feet for a few hours..........the repercussions are harder to bear. Reminder to self, lean in, surrender gently and rest.
The movement stirred up all kinds of storm warnings on the inside and moved in.......inside me until the storm burst and I knew that this was a serious storm front moving in on me. Take cover, duck.......lie down, be safe. Try not to move.......be careful.
I woke up yesterday after a long nap and felt kind of hungry. I had leftovers, but found that I could not stand the 3 - 5 minutes it would take to nuke it , get a drink, silverware, a napkin. I thought I can't do all of these tasks because the pain of standing is crushing me from the inside out........
So I grabbed some cherry jello and a bottle of water......hello din din and cried when I realized the spoon was in a land far far away. I had to recup for a while........about a half hour and then I got to get the spoon. It never occurred to me to eat it like a finger food, so apparently all those manners instilled by the parents are still in place. Jello is a spoon food.......got it. LOL.
I don't know what I was thinking......I clicked on a show, but couldn't follow it. It made me cranky......when I am like this I think it is the TV show's fault......it doesn't occur to me that I am fighting pain which has brought in the BRAIN FOG making it very difficult to follow a period English piece. They move, they talk, they say things that for all intensive purposes could be jibberish, it seems like a lot of posturing and foolishness. I can't lock my mind into watch and enjoy mode. I began and ended watching 4 or 5 different movies over the next half hour and finally settled on reruns of Family Ties.
Do you remember that show? I sat and watched the pilot episode and it brought a smile to my face. The little girl was preparing for a test on state capitals. She asked her family for the state capital of Iowa. Each family member had a different response......Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines. The little girl said, "I think it is Des Moines right?" Her Dad leaned down and said, " Iowa doesn't have a state capital, it is up to every American to look after little Iowa." And for whatever reason this made me laugh........a kid born in the state capital of little Iowa, our poor maligned state. We felt redeemed in "Field of Dreams" when the baseball player asked if this was heaven and Kevin Costner's character grinned big & replied, "No this is Iowa." My Dad loved that line........he was the Chamber of Commerce for Iowa or as he always said IoWAY......IoWAY is the only way. God Bless You Daddy, I miss you......Bless all who love and cherish their home towns, their beloved states/provinces........the land where they dwell.
I will be resting a lot, pretty wonky in the shower, used the chair, but felt the presence of the caution flags......got out of the shower in slow slow careful there Betty Ann mode. Sometimes the warnings get through the pain/brain fog and I am so very GRATEFUL to receive the slow down, proceed with caution missy info. I put my pink nightgown on backwards and had to rest before turning it around. It's going to be a long day......I am determined to take it easy........go very slow and do what is best. I sat on the bed and wished hard for a hairbrushing fairy to arrive.........wished with all of my heart. I finally managed to comb it and give a girl a side part, good enough! My hair is getting long......I can tie it in a knot and it sits on top of my head, no pins......just a natural hair knot.....I think the curls help it stay?!?! or maybe the angels keep it in place.......?
Thankfully I have 4 more mini containers of jello ready to go.........yay! Thanks for all the lovely, wonderful thoughtful and so considerate comments you make and share......a hug for you, and you and you and you and you and you and you and please know how much.......how VERY MUCH I appreciate ya'll. Time to tuck in my little backward jammy wearing discombobulated soul into bed. My eyes feel so gritty, bright red today......Sjogren's is out en force. Later darlings...........do we have Primo Soup in the states? I'm not sure...............need to go to the store and find out........one more hug.......xxxxxxoooooooooxxxxxxxxxxoooooo sigh, i can' remember what is the hug and what is the kiss so i use both.......that is tired huh! lol lol........

Hey Bluebird - I am with you on the body/weather comparison. There is front coming our way that should bring rain & cooler weather & my body & mind are telling me it is so. Slept little last night - have terrible headache & backache this morning - have already taken two naps & it is not noon yet.
I must say that I do not consider Jello a finger food but you might try just eating it straight from the container - hold to your mouth & squeeze.
Love what you had to say about the Family Ties show. Reminds me of the old trick question about how to pronounce the capital of Kentucky - Louisville or Louieville? In case you do not know how, contact me & I\'ll let you know.
By the way I chose not to wear my pink nightgown today. It just never looks good on the \"old bear.\"
Hugs!!!
Wish I could come round and make you a meal when you are feeling like that!
I make a really good home made pasta...or spicy lentils...or stir fried chicken...
I know about the zoning out with television and music. I have experienced not knowing what is going on, feeling irritated by music or noise or just fallin asleep to it all...
It stopped raining temporarily today, and I limped to the postbox...
My son is upstairs playing and I am aching with loneliness and I have accidently scratched one of my favourite CD\'s and it keeps cutting out.
No decision on Alex\'s schooling yet...yawn...will life ever change?
I must look to see where Iowa is...
Sending Love and comforting (((Hugs))) from a very dull rainy UK...
I think we are all getting SAD here because it still feels like winter!
So happy to hear about the energy level coming up and the happy heart, getting to putter around the house! You put it perfectly about the weather comparison. I think of it like a beachball on the ocean, up one minute, down the next, never knowing when things are really going to get rough. Stay in the safety zone thinking mode till this passes Serce. Lots of love to you. Connie
Hi sparrow. Glad you had a bit of energy. Now rest up for your next adventure. My Sjogren\'s is acting up today. Meyers are burning & gritty & my nose is stuffy & yet dry. My arms are stinging/burning. Time for me to rest. Want to read but eyes say NO! Sending happy thoughts & prayers your way. Xo
Oh yes, I totally get that comparison the raging storm...or just a passing shower....and how we KNOW when it\'s coming and need the right amount of time to get horizontal and comfortable...QUICK!
SO good to hear that you had a tad of energy and were released from this monster for a while. Glad you like jello!! ME TOO! I buy Jello puddings. No fat chocolate, but regular butterscotch. I just love the taste of the butterscotch. I never liked it in my earlier days, guess my taste buds have changed.
WOW, you got a shower in too!! Right before you put your nightgown on backwards. Good grief, I can\'t tell you how many times I\'ve done that. And all the effort it took just to get some clothes on ugh!
Don\'t know how you live by yourself. I\'m not sure I could function as well as you do on a bad day. I just know the angels that take care of your hair, are taking care of you, as well.
Rest well, sweet Sparrow!
