Falling down the Rabbit Hole
Lately I feel like I'm falling down a rabbit hole with no way to climb back out. My symptoms are getting worse. I can still walk for which I am eternally grateful but the pain is getting bad, bad, bad! I've started back yesterday on Baclofen every 8 hours instead of just at bedtime. It only helps for a couple of hours if that long. Besides the awful pain in the muscles in the legs, especially on the left side, I have what feels like lightning bolts hitting the bone in the upper left leg going from above the knee to the hip socket. I am not even moving when this happens. I can be sitting, lying or standing. It takes my breath away.
My lower ribs often feel like an accordion that folded in on itself and I have to raise up and let them settle back down in the right order again. Not pleasant! It's not a hug. I know what that is and it isn't this.
I am tired of traveling 3 hours to see my Neuro for 10 minutes every 6 months and getting nowhere. So, yesterday, I did some research and found a new one 2 hours away who has a satellite office 45 minutes away that he comes to at least 1 Saturday a month. I found out that he takes our insurance so I made an appointment. I can't get in until Aug. 23rd. That seems like a while but that's a lot sooner than it would be to see my old Doc.
I was excited and told my daughter in law. She and my son have been staying with us since we picked them up in Miami the end of Jan. They will be moving out in about 3 weeks. I thought she would be happy for me but when I told her he was a Hindu, she said I had to watch out for them that they just buy their diplomas! Talk about bursting my bubble. Evidently, her Mom, who died of cancer, was not diagnosed properly in Australia by a Hindu doctor or doctors and so she blames them all. I had to hear how they are all incompetent, have bad bedside manners and won't help me at all. Not what I needed to hear since I am no longer taking my Lexapro.
I assured her that I will approach this with an open mind. I've been to plenty of doctors before. Ya think?!
Until then, I take my Baclofen and will be attempting to navigate my way through Wally World and then Kroger's today. After a stop at the corner organic veggie stand, I will help unload the "haul" out of the truck, bring it down the hill or down the stairs since the kitchen is in the lower level of the house and put it all away.
Like that Rascal Flatts' song: "Life is a highway. I want a rest stop all day long." LOL
Gentle hugs, Linda

i like that song. LOL. I am sorry that you have been feeling bad. With MS you never know what will happen. That is wonderful news about finding a doctor closer to you. It does not matter what race a doctor is. Maybe he will be able to treat your symptoms so you can get better. You need to rest after Wally World and Kroger\'s. I hate going to Wally World but I seem to go pretty often. Rest up and Take care!
Oh Linda I hate to hear you are in so much pain, I truly hope this new doc will work out for you. Oh the infamous Wolly World trip can be a bit much at times and than you also going to Krogers? Please rest after those two shopping trips and take your meds to relieve the pain from those trips.
Feel Better! Renee
I got home too late to make the 2:00 pm dose of Baclofen so looks like I\'ll have to wait until 10:pm at bedtime. I looked up some reviews of patients on that Neuro and one was so scary that I\'m having second thoughts. I posted on the message board to see if anyone has heard of him but so far, nothing. I want to make sure before I have my records sent to him. Oh well, maybe I\'ve got a few seconds to rest or maybe not before starting to fix dinner. I just now finished warming up some lunch. Sigh...
Gentle hugs to all, Linda
Linda, I hope the pain will cease soon and the medication will start to work. I think it is great that you have found a doctor that is closer to you. I would keep an open mind regarding the post about the doctor. It could be a personal grudge. Once you meet him/her you will see if he/she is the right fit for you. Beside manner and competence is what is important. If you don\'t like him you could move back right? Good luck with the new doctor. I will have to look up this famous Wolly World and see if we have one around here. It must have some good stuff. Take care and feel better soon.
Hang in there. I\'m sure the weather has a lot to do with messing up our bodies. It does to me and we just have to ride in through.
