Fall and my day out in it...
I had a doctor's appointment this morning and I took a bus partway because I wanted to get in some walking and it looked to be shaping up to a nice day, brisk weather, leaves starting to turn (it's northern California, we're behind the curve when it comes to fall!). I had plenty of time so I took my time walking there, detouring if I felt like it, shuffling through piles of leaves (even if it *did* get me a disapproving look from a cat at one point LOL), lingering to admire pretty landscaping or fun Halloween decorations. Fall's always been my favorite time of the year.
Other than my vitamin D levels being way too low (12 instead of 30-100, which is better than it had been the previous time...4!!), everything else looked great. Yay yearly physical done. (Side note: low vitamin D has been linked to depression so when you're dealing with too much emotionally (gee, that doesn't apply to anyone here, right? ;p ) getting out in the in sun more is a really good idea.)
More leaf shuffling, scenery admiring, smiling and saying hello to people as I passed them. Most of whom returned it, a few looked at me startled and muttered back "uh, hi" and one guy was just stone-faced and ignored me.
Either I wasn't paying quite enough attention or was perhaps a bit too enthusiastic in my leaf shuffling but I ended up kicking the curb rather hard and jarred my left knee pretty good. Bah. I didn't want it to stiffen up so I kept walking on it and besides, I was pretty close to a sushi place at that point. They were about 15 minutes from opening when I got there so I sat on a bench in front and texted Blondie (today's special Journal guest...Blondie! ;) ) to pass the time.
Instead of their usual white napkins, the sushi place had orange and black ones which was rather cute. And the paper lanterns overhead were jack-o-lanterns too. I had a roll there (maguro, hamachi, tobiko and mango, yum) and got some to go.
I grabbed a vitamin D supplement from the nearby health food store and sigh, grabbed the bus since my knee was definitely getting grumpy with me. Stupid knee. It dropped me off by my bank so I went in to deposit the rent money from my roommate and to cash one of the $100's into oh, something spendable. Standing in line I caught sight of the couch where we'd sat 2 weeks earlier while he showed me the divorce paperwork... it was like having ice water thrown in my face. Ugh. I guess it's progress that I didn't consciously link my bank with that until slapped in the face with it. :p
After that I stopped at Trader Joe's to get some salad stuff and headed home where I had a mini-breakdown and cried into the cat. Poor soggy kitty. Once that was vented, I curled up with my sushi and watched the new Walking Dead. Hmm, maybe I'll start visualizing them as the various walkers... :p

triggers are such a vicious way of reminding us of our past relationships. When trying out a part time job last week, I was inundated with multiple triggers that reminded me of what once was. I didn\'t think it would happen nearly as much where I am living now because I am 2.5 hours away.....but it was there all the same.
People keep telling me to look out the windshield and not into the rear view mirror so much.....and that will help me with time. It sounds so simplistic yet so difficult at the same time.
Time is to heal all wounds but we don\'t know how much time. My fear is losing all the time living while I am healing. How do you \'live\' while going through all of this???
You are in my prayers every night and I sincerely hope for complete healing for you. Let me know if you would like to talk sometime. I want to be a very good, attentive listener. You deserve a special love in your life.....and it will come. Have faith in Him....
My poor cat probably thinks that all humans cry and cling as much as I do. She tolerates it pretty well, though.
