Faith

I had been struggling with my need to explain my life rationally juxtaposed with my religious life yesterday. I was feeling at wits end at the time. Not in a panic but just very weak and holding on with not much resources left. I called Dad and asked him if he struggles with his rational mind and faith. He said he does but he also said ultimately he has a relationship with god, that he has always had and he has felt that god has always helped him ultimately in all of the mistakes of his life or setbacks, god has always been there. It was such a beautiful conversation to me. Beautiful doesn’t express it well. It helped me a great deal.

As a person of faith I too struggle with these questions. Dad is right. -at the end of the day, I have God. And that’s really what matters

I'm glad that your talk with your dad helped so much Mark

I talked with a minister when I was caring for my folks and they were declining

I often felt really alone...I told him that I just don't feel God
He said you don't have to feel him ...you just have to know that he's there...

Big hug...xo

Mark, there is a line in my text which reads, "If you knew who walks beside you on the path that you have chosen, fear would be impossible."

Reading what Jan wrote made me think of that.

You should compile all the thoughtful conversations with your dad into a book. It would be a lovely and uplifting read.
