Exams again
Dear Kitty, I'm sorry for not writing recently. I've been stressing out over exams and I've really just forgotten! How could I possibly have forgotten about you? So far, we've had Latin, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, Drama, English, and German Speaking and Listening. Those are all that I can remember so far. The German Speaking I had today was sort of alright, except for one part:Herr Johnston [translated]: What would you do for a part time job?Me: I'd be...um...a waitress.Herr Johnston: Good! And why would you be a waitress?Me: Um...because...I...like coffee?Which was very stupid but I couldn't think of anything else to say. Oh well. Apart from that it was all fine. Otherwise, nothing much has happened; I spent the whole afternoon and evening eith Hector on Sunday, which was really fun, and then I had a DMC with Chris today. So it's all good at the moment. Fraser is still ill, but he seems a little better, which is good. So everything is alright. Sort of. Well, apart from the fact that two of my friends want me to go and see the School Counsellor again, which I really don't want to. I just don't know how to...talk, really. I can't talk about that sort of thing. I can talk about anything else; I can talk about the personal life of a flea for about five minutes without stopping, but when it gets to something like that...I just can't. I don't know why. Also, if I see her, then she might tell Mrs Watt, who will, in turn, tell Mum and Dad, who are the two people who can't know. Everything else is fine; I had about fifteen minutes left after the Latin exam, and I got so bored that I wrote down something that I've been meaning to write down for days. I'll put it here: It was that time of year, when the sun sets in the afternoon and it seems like there is nobody else in the world, no other life. The only noise was the rustling of the last few autumn leaves in the trees and the occasional, almost eerie chirp of birds not yet heading to warmer places. The sky had been painted lilac; pink clouds scuttled across it, carried on the icy wind. In the distance, two figures, each carrying both a large bag and a satchel, walked briskly down the road, heads down. The light was fading fast, the setting sun staining the sky a deep orange in the distance. But the girls did not see this; they felt only the chill of the wind as it tore through their thin clothes and the numbness that accompanies sheer terror. One girl tossed her plaits over her shoulder and changed her bag to the other hand, quickening her pace. A year ago, neither of them would have dreamt of doing this. A year ago.Pretty good, isn't it? It's a bit paradoxical (I think that's a word) and overly-descriptive (ditto) in parts, but otherwise I think it reads quite well. For a first draft.Anyway, I must go. I should probably go and do some more revision.Lots of love,MexxxxxxxxxP.S. About two and a half weeks...I think. I can't remember.P.P.S. Nineteen days till my birthday!
