Endocrinologist
Got a call from an endocrinologist today.
Apparently my doc called them to schedule an appointment with me because my blood tests for my thyroid were abnormal. I am slightly irritated because my doctor has not called me to tell me this, and I was shocked to get a call about that because I had yet to be informed. The appointment scheduler woman on the phone was talking to me like I should have already known the results (which I should have, in my opinion).
I have an appointment all the way at the end of this month to see the endocrinologist. I am so scared. Especially since I haven't even been told what these "abnormal" results are!
I already know I have hypothyroidism and so do my doctors. It is already controlled with levothyroxine (so I thought). Maybe it is still just my underactive thyroid??? I still am in shock that I haven't heard from my doctor about this. I am worried like crazy!!
I am trying to calm down. I am taking deep breaths. I am okay. I am definitely okay. At least in this moment. I have a few bodily pains, but I am alive and breathing and I'm okay. I'm surrounded by people who love me. It will be okay.
Whatever it is will be treatable! Everything is treatable to some extent at least, right?
Calm calm calm.
Breatheeee.

OK, Life, My approach has been to direct the results to the specialist and my PCP. I also ask when the doctors will probably get the results. I then call my PCP's office, fill his assistant in, and get a call back later in the day when she has spoken with the doctor. Specialists tend to wait for next appointment. Once I needed a report for a new specialist and, as a patient, went to the lab to get a CD of the MRI report. I learned that I could be proactive or worry myself sick, so chose the former. Calming and comforting hugs.
Gotcha, thanks! I have just been confused because at my appointment, she told me she would call me and let me know what was going on after she got all results from my blood tests back. Instead, she has gotten a specialist to set up an appointment with me and left me in the dark with what's going on. I have an ultrasound on my thyroid today, so maybe she will give me a call after she sees the results of the ultrasound. I will call the office in a few days to follow up just in case.
Life, I looked at my anxiety levels when in the I don't know what's going on, and decided that a call was the better route. Hugs.
