Emotional Stress

A person with fibro is not able to deal with emotional stress without suffering a really bad flare up of symptoms.  I usually end up in bed, not able to function at all from muscular weakness, nausea, IBS, depression.  It is best to avoid people or situations that stress you out but this is not always possible.  When the stress occurs and flare takes over I just lie down, try to think positive thoughts, rest, read a little, try to get up and grab a banana, or some other ready snack and ride it out.  It will clear up in a day or two.  People who show that they care can speed up this process also.

Your last journal mentioned that crying helps relieve pain sometimes.. crying does relieve pain for me too.
Sometimes i become a tree when i get severe breakthrouh pain from my repaired hernia, while i am driving. I was recently told that this is a type of self hypnosis... i never would have thought i could be a tree and drive a car at the same time! i also never could have believed a tree could drive a car at all! But, it really works for me. i become a tree by the side of a cool relaxing stream, and my bark is hard enough to stop that hernia from poking out and causing that excruciating pain.. i guess while i am also focusing on the traffic at hand, my brain has enough to do and just can not feel the pain... go figure!!

Whatever works, works. I call that being \"strong\" in a mind over matter way when you have to be a tree. Later, the crying let\'s the stress from the agony go.

I have had two hernias repaired, right and left unginal. They just cut, pushed the protruding bowel back, stitched up the tear and sewed a reinforcing mesh over top before closing the incision.

I hope that you can get this looked after a.s.a.p. because a hernia is a very correctable health issue.

I don\'t have fibro but you\'re helping me understand it a bit better and how it is for people that do suffer with it. Thanks.
