Eddie's Angel date
As you my dear sisters & friends here at FMO & DS know tomorrow is Eddie's 1st Angel date. I wanted to share some things I feel Eddie has taught me over the past year & also some gifts he has given me.
Some of the things Eddie taught me are:
That I can survive the worst trauma a mother can experience. That I can grieve him with grace, ( some of the time) and that I can forgive myself for the other times.
That there are friends & then again there are FRIENDS.
That caring about another person's loss is healing to oneself.
That there are not enough tissues in the world, but that tears are a great release.
That I can still love & honor God.
How much my grandchildren need me.
How much I can love people who've experienced what I've experienced without ever meeting them. That the love is deep & extends to loving their children.
That some people will re-enter their own pain & share just because they want to help me.
Some of the gifts he's given me are:
A closer walk with God.
The ability to still hear his voice in my mind.
My grandchildren.
A closer relationship with my former daughter in law.
A new purpose - to help others heal.
A realization that in the final analysis all that matters is that I have shown others love.
The church I attend now - I was lead there.
My counselor - I was lead to her.
A new appreciation for the man I've been with for 19 years - he has stepped up and most importantly loved & loves my son.
Friendships that matter.
Signs: a rainbow, written messages, numbers on license plates, cards, text messages & letters I found after, and our final words to each other, "love you".
I have more, but I am going to end now with a heartfelt belief that God & my son lead me here to DS & FMO. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for all of you who continue to lift me up as you are in your own journey of grief. You helped me to survive the worst....I thank you & I love you...
Dear Eddie, I will love you forever. Thank you for being my son and a blessing me all the days of your life and beyond. I love you and I know you are in the arms of Jesus.

Precious words. hugs, Danette
Thank you Danette. Love to you & sweet, sweet Nathan.
I really like your list. You have given much thought to this and that also helps in the healing. I hope you get lots of angel kisses tomorow. Hugs, Inga
Thank you Inga. I will share more when I am up to it. I am trying to stay positive as best I can & I remember your advice to not give too much power to the calendar. You wise & beautiful lady! Love always to you & Richard.
Thank you for your lists. They made me think about some things that I have been avoiding or too selfish to deal with. You are a remarkable woman.
Love , Melissa
Thank you for the list. It took my mind back to the last time I saw Chad. He came by my work to get his birthday money on August 28th. My BIL was present, and asked Chad as he started to leave, \'aren\'t you going to hug your Mom\'? I am so grateful for that last hug. I talked to him on his birthday 2 days later. Our last words were \'I love you\'. Exactly one week later, he was killed. His 2nd angel day is Monday the 6th. I won\'t be around a computer this weekend, because I must be out of town spending valuable time with my daughter. I will be thinking of Eddie and you tomorrow, as I know you will think of Chad and I on Monday. Tight hugs, Barbara
So beautiful and amazing how much we\'ve learned through losing our boys. From my heart through your words, thank you, I needed your thankfulness today. Walking with you heart to heart, thinking of you and Eddie. May your sweet memories prevent you from being too sad, and may Eddie\'s love be felt by you everyday. Big hugs, I know it hurts, just breathe and put one foot in front of the other. I love you! Lynette ~ Matthews mom
Thank you so much. It helps to know how much you care.
You have opened my eyes to remind myself of not only how much I miss Denise, but also how much love and goodness she put into my life and that nothing can ever change that and that she continues to guide me to this day. Thank you. Truly your friend, BarbaraWawa
