ECT #22 / My Dad

I had my 22nd ECT this morning.  I went two weeks without an ECT treatment, and I started to go downhill fast this weekend.  I reached out to the TDoc that texted me back and forth this weekend.  I thought about going inpatient this weekend.  I know the momentum you can pick up going downhill.  So much that you can't control it anymore.  But, today I feel a lot happier, clearer-headed, and have some hope.

Well, I hope until it gets crushed... My dad who has cancer was moved today to palliative care.  He is expected to last about three to four days, given his current state.  He lives with my mom on the west coast and I live on the east.  I went how about three weeks ago and had a good visit with him.  We even went to the movies together when I was home.  Going to movies was always our thing and I have fond memories of it growing up.

The ECT seems like it has been really helpful Thor. Kudos for sticking it out while your Father takes the last lap. None of this is easy but you are doing it...give yourself plenty of time to handle the grief.

Thinking of you. I am glad that the ECT went well. I am sorry to hear about your dad. What a blessing that you were able
to really spend some nice time with him. What movie did you go and see?
In our family to going to a movie, that would be memory making for all of us too.

Glad you got to make a movie memory with your dad when you went out to visit him those weeks ago. Every memory becomes precious at a time like this. It's good to hear that today you yourself felt better after an ECT. Here's some support for you for riding those hills, downhill and uphill we're with you, Thor.

S, glad you opted for the ECT. Wish you were not having to deal with losing your father at this time. It may be hard to separate the depression and the grief. You have many years of wonderful memories. It may take some time for those to resurface, but they will. Lots of support and caring hugs for you and yours.
