eCounseling
Today I started eCounseling, using one of those monthly subscription services. It will definitely be more convenient than trying to get in with the therapist in this area who I saw once before. She was kind enough, but she wasn't as good as a previous therapist I had back in DC.
I think the eCounseling will also be good because it's done in writing...I think I have the ability to be even more brutally honest in writing. Without someone's eyes on me I'll be able to give straight facts about my relationship. Get a much better gauge on how bad it was, from an outside perspective. I also will have the ability to really hone what I am saying to be the most true, processing as I do it. That really helps me in general (for example, using this site).
I really hope that this works. I hope the counselor is engaging and offers good advice. Thus far it's just been basic information exchange. Background. Description of my current depression symptoms. Background of all of the shit I've dealt with over the past year.
I'm hoping that within the next few days she will have something substantial things to say. I really would like strategies about how to keep myself on a daily routine. How to prioritize my own wellness. I would like written response/I'm not currently in the mood for a video chat, though that is an option with the service I'm using.
