Early St. Patrick's Day in NYC

Here in NYC the parade in the City is being held on Saturday, March 16, NOT on the actual day, which is Sunday, March 17th.  I thought that was odd, and looked it up.  It's true.  They are keeping Sunday open for religious observance.

I'd love to go, but this year my knee is bothering me so i don't know if I can stand up for so long.   I've been to that parade in the City several times, and just absolutely love it, it's just wonderful.  The bagpipes are incredible, and I never knew SO MANY Irish people were still around!  Ah, those men in the skirts....

I'm making the Corned Beef and Cabbage as I write this.  Yummm!!!  Will probably make another one on Sunday.

A good friend is like a four-leaf clover, hard to find and lucky to have!

To all the Irish folks and wanna-be's, let's be cheerful on that day, it's a happy holiday!   Happy St. Patty's day weekend!

Too bad you can't attend. Maybe you could take a folding chair to sit on? Thanks for the smile. Dinner sounds great! Hugs!

Happy early St. Pattys day! South Boston has a big parade Sunday morning. Not sure if I want to fight those crowds. I'm sure NYC will be big too.

I didn’t realise St Patrick’s day was so celebrated across the pond. You have a large Irish community in NY? Enjoy the day. It will be a shame if you can’t go to the parade, perhaps a glass of Guinness at home to toast them. I like Guinness, it was my drink of choice when I used to go to pubs.
Enjoy your weekend my friend.

I'm not Irish so I don't celebrate, have never had corned beef and cabbage but my mom used to make ham and cabbage but I think those are American traditions I would love to know what real Irish people eat. To most people here it's just an excuse to drink, some bars even have green beer, lol

To those who celebrate.....Happy St Patrick's Day!!!

I'm not Irish either, but my hubby has a little Irish in him, and we've always wanted to travel to Ireland. I hope that you're able to go to the parade, even if just for a little bit. Our town is having a parade, but it will be tiny in comparison to those in NYC and Boston. Have a wonderful St. Paddy's Day weekend!
