Dumber in Law
Yes, I actually called my daughter-in-law that during the MIL/DIL blowout of June, 2015. https://www.dailystrength.org/group/post-traumatic-stress-disorder-ptsd/discussion/whacha-call-it-ff It was only once and in the midst of the only tit-for-tat skirmish I ever participated in with her. I was invited to participate in plenty of others over her 7 year marriage, but I am grateful to say my psychotherapy tools served me well. I always have been an artful dodger.
That flow was interrupted by Hubs telling me that the earache which started to plague Big Bro yesterday afternoon had grown worse during the night. Collaboration requested. I had already exhausted my repertoire of home remedies the night before. It didnae take long for us to decide an ER trip was in order. Hubs wanted to do the do. Go for it, Babe.
The bustle of getting the two out the door woke both sisters. All is reasonably calm, but cranky. Hubs has since texted that Big Bro has been treated for an inner ear infection and they are having an Irish breakfast (McDonald's) while they wait for the pharmacy to open. How absurd is it that I cannae seem to keep myself from wondering if the children are reacting to the DIL spirit of their mother floating through the house with the rapid cycling from loving hope of a good mother to the doomsaying jealousy of the wife and daughter-in-law? In life, that transition had profound impacts on the two older siblings. The baby was taken from her and placed into protective custody with her parents at birth. There is room to doubt the baby ever had to live that transition outside her mother's womb.
Processing. . . Trying that radical philosophy of praying for the healing of the people who have hurt you the most. Does passing into the spiritual realm relieve us of these conflicts or are they what we take with us when we go?

I indulge in the belief that passing relieves us, but no actual scientific data to perpetuate the rumor any farther than mho. May God bless you all, arfie. I don't know how you are doing it. I am 53 and cannot image having the responsibility of three youngans now. triple hugs of support and continued prayers~
So far, our science can only measure a teensy fraction of the Earth, much less the universe. Faith (by whatever name) is all we have to go on.
Yea, at 65, the prospect of a second parenting career is downright daunting with panic attacks galore. It has put a whole new spin on geriatric math for me. Sigh. . . For now, I am keeping the focus on stabilizing the immediate situation and letting the future take care of itself.
Just breathe. . .
The good news is that my guit-chi has been saying, "Just sing." Singing is a GREAT breathing exercise. Good for channeling, too.
Poor boy, earaches are so painful. Prayers and support for all.
