dum spiro spero
lalalalala......herro hon,
dum spiro spero is latin for "While I breathe, I hope."
did a long serious private journal earlier about health issues & the journey. it helps. out with the chipped hope in with new fresh hope.
had a mean ol' stomper of a sinus headache this mornin'.........put two icepacks on my brain......one on top - one at the back. then when i was good and chilly i thawed out in the shower. showers are awesome defrosters.
so.......i went out to take a peek at the newly planted Blue Moon Violas......I didn't know that these were native to Australia........nice, feels sorta like an inverted staycation.......I can't manage a long flight, but I can have these beautiful blue Aussie natives blooming all summer long. (they're perennials, so they'll be back!!!)
the air purifier is telling me it needs one of the filters replaced. a little red light is blinking. at me. y am i always in charge of stuff again? seems silly to me too........got to dig out the instruction manual and relearn what to do. lalalalala......keep smiling despite small glitches.
the headache is all but gone, took one blue gel headache breaker upper pill. smart.
laundry is in the dryer, anybody wanna come and help me fold? we could bake some cookies and have tea........wanna?
i bought some new spices........the one i used the most of today is called "nosalt spice". if this is a common spice i have never heard of it, it's a slop bucket.....no scratch that.... slop bucket does not sound delicious.. Nosalt spice is a wonderful blend of savory zesty spice favorites ---- the kitchen is beginning to smell like Sparrow's Dinner Cafe. roasting two large chicken breasts with small red potatoes in a sauce of low sodium chicken broth & veggie juice. i figure i can turn the second piece of chicken into a delicious chicken salad for tomorrow. I added the nosalt spice, extra pepper and parsley......foiled it and in another hour all we be golden.
lately i've been eating baby carrots for dessert. love the crunch, light and refreshing.......part rabbit i guess. i need to cut up a bunch of celery...........but i don't wanna. have to. stand up. or chop.
i am dressed in street clothes........been able to dress more lately. that's pretty awesome. loose comfy stuff........makes me feel more "on the go" than pj's. i'm grateful when the fibro backs off and i can get dressed. still dealing with muscle spasms......they are running from my neck down into below my waist currently on a proceed with caution basis. i'm taking my sweet time doing stuff. yesterday i inadvertently set them off by moving too quick. (bulging discs, bone spurs, neck and back are fused in some places, fusing in others.....a mess really, osteoarthritis, ddd, aks)
last Sunday i dropped something on the ground and made a move to go after it........Sam put his hand on my arm........"NO, Mom....wait,be still". he knows that i fell recently in the bathroom and bruised myself every which way but loose......it's a wonder i didn't fall in the toilet. i hit the wall, then the commode, fell onto the seat.........the plastic hinges on one side snapped off......the seat went one way and i went the other. i did not hit the floor, but i pinballed a landing that netted me some pretty impressive bruises (body & pride).
sam replaced the seat for one with metal hinges and it also has a slow close feature. it seemed silly to have that feature, but i gotta tell ya, i really like it. no more sudden lid slamming down (like when my balance is off and I pull a klutzy move)
guess I should get a grabber, anybody know of a good one? i've never used one before. last night i used the flat part of the spatula to open the cupboard from my rolling chair and then stuck the spatula handle in the hot pad glove to retrieve it. we all gotta be creative right? a grabber might be a good thing to get.......
i've used a long handled wooden spoon to clean the oven before........do ya'll have some nifty tricks for when you need to sit to do stuff? or in general? just curious........big hugs!
noticed that Rusters offered to go to Italy and take her DH........but did she offer to bring me an Italian for my very own?????? i think it's worth a pout don't you? laughing........lots of love!

Hi Ruthie
Sorry you are hurting so bad. I over did it myself this week. Will write more about it later. Glad Sam told you to go easy. Your flowers are so pretty :). Your chicken smells good. I put spray butter under the skin of the chicken breast & use Adobo by Goya & black pepper. Then I pull the skin back over the breast & spray it again with the butter. I will write more later...Lu ya
Love these gorgeous flowers!! Autrailia, eh? Had no clue! I\'m not a flower grower, have an orange thumb. I don\'t know what that means, exactly, cept that I don\'t have a green thumb. Can\'t grow nothin! I can grow viny (viney?) things that are vinelike ....ok, but the real stuff.uh uh! I tried to grow an African Violet once. Never again. What a slow painful death that poor thing had. You stick with it kid, you\'ve go the touch.
Your kitchen food sounds delicious, cept fer that you can\'t have carrots for dessert. There\'s something sacrilgeous about that. Where\'s the chocolate? I can mail you some! We can\'t have you skipping chocolate. A crocodile will come eat you or somethin. I will help! Just let me know!
I\'m sure glad Sam replaced that seat. OH SO sorry that you took that fall though....it\'s just increased all your pain so much.
Praying for some brighter days ahead, Sparrow. Love it that you\'re wearing people clothes more often. That just does something to lift our spirits, doesn\'t it. We feel even more \"shut in\" when we can\'t even dress up nice. Gosh, I used to love to get all gussied up for church on Sundays. Put on the heels and the earrings...to match the necklace......was so excited when I was finally \"old enough\" to wear panty hose!! LOL....I had a great life, it\'s just tough being a Preacher\'s Kid. A bit too much expected of you, me thinks. (and both my other brothers think this as well..the three of us have kept psychology alive and well for many years in our prospective towns!)
Whelp, you have a quiet, fall-free day tomorrow, the Lord\'s day. May He bless you and keep you!!!
If you mean what I think you mean by grabber, I have them in various lengths and in every room, as well as attached to each walking aid,(2 canes, a walker & my favorite, a trolley-walker)! They range from 2 - 3feet long and have magnets on the end to pick up coin, staples etc. I\'ve been warned that bending to the floor could easily snap four more of my vertebrae, and that just doesn\'t appeal..........twisting too quickly could offer a similar reward, so my \' reachers\' have become my best buddies, by all means get some. Dollar stores do have them, but this is one thing where you do ONLY get what you pay for!! You\'ll love them.
And showers, aren\'t they such fun to slide/tumble out of? I\'m such a klutz that having to pull my knees up to my nose to get out of the tub gives me Horses of Charlie ever time I get out........tempted to set up residence in there!!
May your weekend be as good as possible/if possible!!!
Shall post some pics..........and PPS I love those violas, the whole violet family would be among my fav. flowers if it were possible to have favorites!! It Just IS NOT!!
I luv to fold laundry... I luv it when it\'s all hot and fluffy and doesn\'t have any wrinkles and I get to fold it all up and neat and tidy like... I luv to do laundry... and I luv cleaning house... the 3 dogs keep my house a mess.... The chicken sounds delish... and I LUV spices... My cabinet is full of them and I use them all... MMMmm... it\'s now boring to cook without them. So sorry about ur fall... take care of urself. I gave my dad a grabber a long time ago but he never used it . My brother in law has been in a wheelchair since he was 19 (he\'s 60 now... drunk driver )... and he uses a grabber. I\'m sure he has all kinds of nifty tricks.
Lots of luv ... my sparrow friend.... xo Sun

Gentle Hugs/Compassion for the fall, and bad headache and all those aches and pain. I am feeling a bit \"creaky\" as I call it...So I can commiserate a bit with you.
I am going to look for that Nosalt spice...I love trying out new spices.
