drycleaning & small town memories
just thinking how nice it would be to send my imagination out to the dry cleaners. get it back all fresh, dressed and pressed, ready for more dreaming.......
why? cause last night i dreamt i had to use the loo.......stat. i was in a soul food restaurant......it was noisy, very busy......i made my way to the back and entered a tight hallway. opened the door to the ladies room and couldn't take in what i was seeing. there was just enough room for one person to squeeze in to a little area which had another much smaller opening. i could get my arm through the opening. it was an opening top to bottom but as a doorway it would serve very few. say 1/4 of our dear old cartoon pal Olive Oyl........i could see the commode but couldn't go any further. stymied.......and in trouble.
i scurried to another place for help......it was very rustic, but since i am old enough to have used an outhouse and waited too long to be picky i was ready for any and all help..........or so i thought. i opened the door to this ladies room and saw a very low toilet with a red lid. low like a toddler's little potty and the same diameters as well. i thought i would have hey to pay getting back up but what else could i do?
so i lifted the red lid.......there was another red lid.......and another and another.......and another. i opened red lids til i was flush with the floor.....and still no potty opening.
can i get a refund on this dream? feel mighty gypped. or is it gipped? as in ripped off........
i found an inexpensive rain shower head....at Ross. $9.99. took it home and was able to install it EASILY by MYSELF. so proud, it was easier to do than opening a jar of spaghetti sauce......my other shower head was dinky. small, little, teeny.......had to constantly turn in the shower to get warm. by the time one section was warm three more were chilly. this bad boy is a wonderful full on rain shower....keeps me completely warm at the same time. modern magic whoooo hooooo!
it was one of those "as seen on TV" products, which should have reassured me, but it did the opposite, i pretty much expected it to be a fail until i tried it.......you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to have a great RAIN ROOM EXPERIENCE!
on sunday i escaped for a drive. rode north til i got to Winder and kept going on the main road.......i saw a sign for a grand opening at a place called Roses Express. saw brand new rocking chairs outside priced at a$59.00. a furniture store maybe? this got my engine revved just enough to investigate, take a walk..........good!
i asked a couple if they had ever heard of this place? yes, they said.......way back when. it used to be the small town in the south's answer to a five and dime. don't know if this was only in Georgia or where else they may have had locations, don't know if this is a revival or an existing store i just never heard of.......someone else told me it was a smaller version of walmart pre walmart.......it seemed a lot like a smaller version of Big Lots.
i noticed a lot of familes shopping together. young families in particular, lots of them in camoflage......hunting families? i suppose so.....it was nice to see so many families together looking at everything. it reminded me of my own shopping experiences growing up......all of us piling in the car and back then we dressed up to go shopping. still in our sunday best we'd drive the 30 miles north to downtown Waterloo........go to Younkers, Sears, JC Penneys......fancy.....special. nice. really nice. there would be fresh nut and candy vendors where the escalators let customers off and on at.......the nuts were warm and delicious. we'd get a small bag of those warm nuts and be so content to stroll and munch. almost every time mom would get a small container of almond bark to take home for later. that was good too! we felt a sort of reverence for these big stores, they were the biggest buildings we'd ever been in........for us kids i mean........we would stare in ah.....much quieter than our normal rambunctious selves, the ones who had only five minutes ago gotten out of the family car......we had fought over territory and pinching and hair pulling and name calling the whole trip in between wails of "are we there yet?" and ratting out a fellow sibling as much and as often as possible.
but inside those stores we were model children. pretty incredible......and true. children our parents could be proud of......if only for a little while.......time to do something here i'm sure. wash something or clean something or rest something. rio just ate breakfast.....it looks cold and chilly out. take care of your wonderful self.......maybe we could have exchange hugs.....to encourage each other, feel a little closer to friendship and life out there. xoxo

That dream sounds awful. I've had similar ones. I'm glad you are finding shows on Roku that are like old friends. Much love.
That was some dream, Ruthie, hope you slept better last night.
Ruthie, your distressing bathroom dream gave me a chuckle because I’ve had so many like it. Maybe not as creative of yours, but many variations on some roadblock to using the “facilities.” I think it happens when I’m sound asleep but really need to be awake and on my way to the loo. Funny brains. I went to college with a girl from Waterloo. Her name escapes me at the moment....
