I find talk of "the Lord" distasteful. Being preached at offends me and brings no comfort. Platitudes and cliches are pointless. For me, grief is an enormous wave that I must simply ride until a more peaceful shore can be reached.
It is healing, for me, to put my emotions into words...all of the tears, joy, anger and sadness must be externalized and this is how I do it.
Affirmation and validation are not a requirement. We are each allowed to manage and navigate our grief in our own specific way.
My misery does NOT seek company. Sorrow and loss are NOT a PISSING CONTEST.
Venting is good medicine. The bond shared with my son is a bond EXCLUSIVE TO THE TWO OF US...you do NOT know what his loss means to me. Comiseration is not comforting.
You say you mean well...and you most likely believe that. I do not require sympathy or pity. What I DO require is greater understanding of what the Universe demands of us.
