Diverticulitis 2

Forgot to say, had 13 polyps removed 2008 and had a flare up 1-6-10, was inflamed and was on antibiotics for 10 days, and told to eat more fiber.  Cannot afford to see neurologist, so iI am hoping to eat fiber and do probiotics and get regulated on my own, please help me do this.  Eating Fiber One bars and cereal and a metamucil type mix each day, what else is there and what am I supposed to expect week to week?  Also drinking water all day, atleast 6-8 gasses a day.  Not eating popcorn or hard nuts.  Eating lots of greens and geewhiz what else can I do?

Polyps are not diverticulitis - so in jan were you diagnosed with DT? It sounds like you have it under control on the water and fiber. In terms of popcorn and nuts there was a BIG study of like 40,,000 people that debunked all that. The cause of DT is food not getting through fast enough and the diverticula are formed by the internal pressure. You really need to try and move as much as you can. If you can walk 15 minutes at a time - do that as MUCH AS YOU CAN. Your bowels need movement to keep itself working. In terms of probiotics, drink the danactive and then take Culturelle (probiotic). My doctor also had me take Florastor after my infection to regulate the altercation of yeast. Hope this helps.Greens are not all fibrous. For instance, lettuce has hardly any - it is considered roughage. High fiber foods are apples, pears, butternut squash, cereal and legumes. Green Giant is makeing a fantastic new product called digestive health that has high fiber that I LOVE!!!!! good luck...i had surgery and had 15 inches of intesting removed and am recovering. Had thee hospital stays over the course of 7 years.

Yes I know, I was told when I had the polyps removed it was diverticula, now I was told in the hospital it is DT now, should have listened and been on the fiber these last two years. The ER doctor told me he thought the seeds and popcorn thing was a wives tale,he spole about the study, but I was eating popcorn about 2 times weekly when this happened.I think it is different from person to person, popcorn hull almost killed a friend of my husbands, a piece perforated his colon.I take a probiotic from Melaleuca called \"Florify\" daily and drink Melaleuca\'s fiber drink, called \"FiberWise\", orange stuff. I drink \"Yakula\" every day, one.I also use the \"Fiber One\" bars which is 9 grams per bar between meals and if I am in a hurry in the morning with my fiberwise drink. Drinking a lot of water pretty much 6-8 glasses 8 oz a day. I will definitely look for the green giants stuff, want something good to eat and I will definitely look for the \"Florastor\", I keep getting mild yeast infections on the outside, wondering what to do about that, its infuriating. I feel pretty good today and have had BMs that are good. Thank you for your help and if these things stop working I will look into the products you have told me about. If you want to try Melaleuca products I will send you my link, I am a distributor. Their gold bar has completely rid me of exzema and they have lots of great products that work!
Do have a question since you have had part of your colon removed, do you have to use a bag? Everyone has told me you do if you get any of your colon removed, makes it scarier. Hope you are feeling better and God Bless you and I will keep you in my prayers as I do everyone I meet in here.
