discipline

I woke up this morning thinking over the last thing I mentioned to my therapist on her voicemail. I woke up from sleeping and I found that my feelings were telling me that 'getting up' was something to fear - fear the world out there - and was tentative about

fulfilling all the plans that I had hoped for - been excited for - the previous night.

I decided to relate differently to those feelings - and I came to a sense of discipline.

Feelings can really derail us - whether those you come into contact with - knock you around and you lose your 'footing' mentally - and lose your goal -

or the moment inside you that your own fears come into the forefront and make you want to cocoon - stay put - and not move forward or out into the world.

I think having a discipline and that awareness of generalizing your feelings- in an

emotionally intelligent way can really be helpful. Nuff said.. is it too early for this? :)

More and more, I like to think of my feelings as a monitoring system. Bearing in mind that an alarm can go off for a strong wind as easily as for a home invader, they can provide me with vital information. However, monitoring systems only monitor and provide information. It's up to me to decide how to process that information.

But then. . . It really might be too early for this.
