DIFFERENT DAY!

Friday eve., July 3, 2008:  Mostly today was frustrating.  I called the SS office to inquire about the status of Scott's benefit.  My last call was in May.  The hearing was in March.  Anyway, they had all, until today, failed to mention there was a form I need to fill out to receive the benefit.  Then, I went to the local SS office and was informed I needed all his paperwork including the death certif.  It does not do me good to have to keep pulling that stuff out.  I don't want to look at it.  It is all real enough without the black and white. And then, the woman at the office hurried me along saying she had to leave in 4 minutes.  The office didn't close for another hour so why was this my problem?!?!?  So, I will make another trip on Mon. and take everything in.  There is a fairly large check sitting in the payment office just waiting.  I would rather have my son but since he was entitled to the money, I can sure use it.  Please, anyone reading, don't misunderstand me.  Thank goodness I got a woman on the phone this who knew what was needed!  I just want everything settled! On the up side I did get to talk to my "picnic boy".  We have scheduled a picnic for Mon.  I always look forward to seeing him.  He was writing it on his calender as we spoke. After the visit to the SS office I swung by Chris' house to see if he was home.  It is on my way.  He wasn't there but one of my favorites of his friends was.  I talked to Chuck, who I have known since he was about 11, now 28, for awhile.  He spent many nights here. Then on to the $ Shop and Wal-Mart. I even, to my amazement, stopped at a fireworks stand and bought an $18.00 assortment bag of fireworks. It has a lot in it, really.  Last year Scott's death was so fresh to me I didn't even care about anything! So, this year, although small, I did something. When I got home another of Chris' friends, Dave, was in my driveway.  Also another favorite. Also spent many nights here.  He had had car trouble and was close by so stopped by here to do some quick-get me home-repair. He lives about 25 miles from here.  I was so glad to see a couple of my older "pups".  I have stayed close to so many of all my kids friends.  And they, to me.  I am blessed in that regard. Tonight I helped Adam fill out an online application to work at the same hospital as Craig in the same dept.  I hope he gets it!  A job will do him a lot of good, I think, in many ways.  And, it is time.  The world just keeps turning...

I totally understand about the frustration of red tape, forms etc where our son\'s money is cincerned. And no, I\'m sure no one misunderstands you. We all know that we\'d pay anything to have our children back and money seems so cold in comparison, but being treated like we are robbing their graves doesn\'t help us when we are grieving. I have had the same thing with my son\'s bank account... forms, death certificate, solicitor\'s signature etc etc. And yes, after funeral expenses, loss of income, extra travel we DO need it. It\'s great you keep all the other \'kids\' around, they keep us going don\'t they? I warned Ross that he might get back from Spain and find I\'ve fostered half a dozen kids! The house is so empty with just me in it. hugs. Charlotte. xox

I understand completely about the legal red tape. I received Jamie\'s IRS stimulus chk this week--oh, the pain of seeing his name -with \"deceased\" behind it. I also had to close out an account because all his bills were now paid. I don\'t want his money!!! I want him!!! Then yesterday I got a letter from his employer that I had to sign and date saying we were all settled--can you imagine?? Jamie is gone a year the 30th of this month, and NOW I get this letter?? I, luckily also have several of his friends call me \"Mom\" and it feels wonderful. Enjoy your \"pups\", they are part of your son, too! Hugs, Judy

I understand how frustrating this stuff can be. I went through a different kind of frustration that still hasn\'t been settled. Justin\'s wallet never made it to the hopsital with him (so the hospital says)... I know he had around five or six hundred dollars in there because it was his vacation check. The state trooper that was on the accident scene had taken his drivers license and gave the info to the ambulance people , but then kept his license which was mailed to me about two weeks later. The tow truck driver said the state trooper had my son\'s wallet. The hospital had his clothes and cell phone, his helmet, and around 27.00. I went to everyone demanding his wallet . What kind of person takes a wallet from a person who is dying? Also Justin wore diamond studs in his ears ... guess what ... they were never found, either. About a month after Justin passed away, the title for his motorcycle came in the mail. The motorcycle he had only had 3 weeks. Still no wallet .. I know it\'s gone forever. To think of the pictures and sentimntal things my son had in it just inferiates me.
Just venting ..... sorry!

Don\'t get me started on the frustration and red tape of the government. I think they like it, they live to drive us nuts. I hope things get turned around for you and soon. Take Care Love and Hugs.

Sounds like we\'ve all had the same experiences. It\'s sure a lot harder to get out of this world than in it. I too had a difficult time doing my son\'s taxes. It\'s so hard to pull out the death certificates and write deceased. I still on occasion get mail and it\'s like adding salt to the old wound. We do it because we are mothers and mothers are strong even though we hurt. I\'m happy you had a bright spot in your day with the \"pups\". You have a lot that love you, you are an awesome mom. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Love Robin
