Development of my Disorder

I don't remember for sure when exactly my trich symptoms started appearing, but my earliest memory is pulling out my leg hairs in sixth grade due to extreme stress.

I then moved onto my eyebrows, convinced I was doing myself a favour by plucking out excess hairs. I only realized I had completely overplucked my right eyebrow when my friends and family noticed it. After, as my eyebrows steadily grew back, my disorder targeted my eyelashes. It was painful, but a pain I needed, I craved. I ended up with several bald spots along my eyelids that I tried, in vain, to cover with eyeliner and falsies (I was never really good with makeup).

The situation only worsened when I got my hands on a pair of tweezers. Before that I would pull my hairs out with my fingers, but now I have more precision and the hair comes out each time I pull.

The difference with tweezers is you damage the skin less which prevents infection.

I think it happened around the same time for me with the hair legs. I did start shaving round then. I stopped after a couple of years when I started wearing bikinis.

The pain. I know what you mean.

I would say using a journal will help you figure out what happens that is connected to the grabbing sensation.

Best wishes.
