details shmetails, marbles & seashells said the mighty woodchuck
sure, details are important. sometimes. definitely.
at 6 pm yesterday EST, laugh track playing .......i got up and got dressed and went to get meds and supplies. i slept all afternoon right through the rain......and then got prodded by the master of the universe........that little voice that says, "GO.......it's your turn." So I upped and went.
waited behind several automobiles for my turn at the drive through line. sorted my big stack of mail as I waited. la la la. my turn........YAY. they only have one med ready. no.......ack. So I got to circle the building and get in line again. Jolly good that I'm "retired" huh. I got lots of time to circle buildings.........that's what the Miss Ruth's of the world do...........in case you're wondering. Another building circled, all is secure, got my meds, hope that now covers medicare's deductible, gotta remember to call them, be on hold for an hour to find out....(if my med fees will go back down to normal rates again next month).....see that's why you have to become retired..........so you have the time to
w a i t really l o n g time periods to find out things.
i didn't really retire, i disabled instead.
no, in case you've wondered, i never thought that would be my story. not in a million. i didn't go off to play golf on the back nine.......I didn't board a cruise ship to Alaska, I don't hang out with other blue haired ladies on tour buses........I will never walk down a cobblestone lane on the emerald isle or have tea with the queen mum.........when I was little i thought every one could and did .......have tea with her royal majesty. for i read of royalty as a little girl, Queen Victoria, Mary Queen of Scots......Lady Jane Seymour......I didn't know I was not of royal lineage. I never really thought that part through.......when I read of King Arthur and his round table or watched the movie the Sword and the Stone, I was the one pulling that mighty scabbard out of that stubborn rock. I didn't think gender or my own lowly status as a little kid in a small town in Iowa. I ran with the mighty warriors through the highlands, I roamed the moors off tall jagged cliffs.........I sailed down the wide Mississippi river on a wooden raft...........page after page.
I could go everywhere thanks to the foresight of a father who took away the tv set, it was at the beginning of the summer that I completed the 3rd grade. Dad called us all to get in the rambler station wagon.....he took us downtown (5 small town blocks) and dumped his young tribe of characters, his sturdy young pale faced children on the public library front steps.......told us to dismount and get to reading. and so we slowly and resentfully faced our fate that summer. at the end of two weeks i was reading six books a day. the borrowers.....ever read that? back then to me it was such a big big book. it was inches thick, it took days and days to read it.........and the borrowers, funny little creatures that lived in the floorboards beneath and within the walls of a family's home........fighting the dangers of gigantic prowling pets and ever curious humans to get the items they needed to survive.
i do tend to ramble.........and retell the same old stories. maybe i am 118. maybe. but i did manage to get my supplies. i noticed when i got home last night that it was the best I'd felt coming home after shopping in a long time. the pain was less as i brought the bags in and put things away. the pain hit later........about an hour later.......it waited like an incoming storm. it was nice.........wish it could always be like that. i didn't stay out as long, buy as much. that helped too........this morning i feel like i was in a car accident. stiff, sore, achy.........but hey........i did it. me, little old me got out there and got her stuff.......like some heroine in a modern day tale of one disabled ladies fight against the loss of independence. i climbed mt. errands and planted my flag on top! me, little old me. good job girl.......good job.
the other day, a 105 year old woman was on Ellen, she was as mentally spry and alert as can be. she is still licensed to drive in California.......I suspect that she is the oldest driver in the state and probably in the country. her wish is to get 105,000 friends on her FB page. the problem? i have no clue what her name is, what her FB page is called........she was very alert, very lovely. She seems decades younger.......such a darling. When she got up..........she walked just like me. Carefully, slowly, deliberately choosing each step and checking the terrain closely for barriers. That is how I walk. I walk slower than Grandpa, he just turned 90. I have to focus on how I move inside my mind........many wonderful inspiring people manage to do more with even greater obstacles than I.........I have limbs, thumbs, that all move and work, just slowly. I have a fuzzy mind, but it still has flashes of insight and inspiration........and goofiness too.............we all need to laugh. we all need to maintain a sense of humor. ok, tired now......tireder than a wood chuck. a wood chuck who chucked wood..........remember that one? how much wood could a wood chuck chuck? a wood chuck could and would chuck wood........as much wood as a wood chucking woodchuck could and would chuck chuck.
one of my dad's things........tongue tanglers no, wait, tongue twisters. she sold sea shells down by the seashore.
i will trade you some of my best marbles if somebody could carry me to the couch. i have some real beauts in my crystal bowl, yup they sit on the table next to me, so I can never lose my marbles.
in the south, the use of the word carry in this instance does not mean to lift up, it means to give a lift as in ride......sooooo can ya'll give me a ride? sure could use a slim line single car train to get from here to there on days like this. my cane is in the bedroom, but luckily the walker is in the kitchen. i can roll my chair over to the walker and make it that way. it'll be alright. another solution........i'm laughing cause my face is breaking out like a teen.....I have zap-zyt on my chin and i'm using a walker. what a world.

Mt. Errands. I did the same today... a nice exhausted feeling. Much luv.
Oh, I used to love to read! I was bedridden carrying my daughter and took to reading for about seven months! How I loved it. Can\'t do it anymore....but I remember two books, \"The testimony of two men\" and \"A rose in Winter\" by Katherine Woodwise. (I think that\'s how you spell her name). Out of those months of reading, I have never forgotten those two books! Amazing how reading stays with us, even these days with our fogged up brains!
Glad you were able to get out and circle buildings. Nasty job, but somebody\'s gotta do it!! Might as well by our warrior, Ruthie!!! The one with Zap-Zyt on her chin!! LOL...you crack me up!!
