Depression....

I know you all don't live in a big City, but here's a jist of life here in the Big Apple:

1.  Riots and protests everywhere; people trying to take statues down (I heard Mt. Rushmore going to be next), and Black Lives Matter movement, and ANTEFA problems;

2.  Protesters are purposely antagonizing police here, there's been standoffs, b/c our lovely Mayor told the police to take it easy on the protesters so now they know they can get away with a lot;

3.  Loads of shootings, 6 alone overnight; (I am dreading this upcoming weekend) and summer here; things really get bad then;

4.  Fireworks constantly going on at night for weeks and weeks now; can't sleep at night;

5.  Loads of things still shut down; now we're NOT going into Stage 3, so still no indoor seating at restaurants;

6.  Mental state of people is really going down;

5.  Mayor and Governor can't seem to handle all of this.

Sorry but feeling so down today over all of this, I had to vent.  If I had to do this all over again, I'd NEVER EVER live in a big City again.  I really don't think things will ever be the same, but I'm terrified of being isolated and alone with nothing to do for the rest of my life now.  It's everyone's mental health too!!  I hope you all are coping okay.

Hi Maria,
That sounds really bad. The noise alone would drive me nuts. I don't live in a big city and there is very little going on here in the way of protests and violence. I would be totally stressed out if I had to deal with that. There is a lot of Covid stress but it's very minimal compared with what you are dealing with.
I visited New York city once. I think it's a really interesting place and lots to do and I loved all the theatre and stuff but I knew when I went there it's not for me. I like a lot of nature and wide open spaces and I was raised that way too.
I wonder if there is any possibility of you moving?
I think eventually this will blow over, even if things don't get totally back to normal. Might be a year of two I don't know.
Your mayor seems nice from what I have seen of him on the news. Must be very overwhelming for the governor and mayor.
Hope you can find some small ways to get relief and take care. Wendy

Maria, I am so sorry for what you are going through. Hang in there. I couldn.t even imagine it. Not as bad but same here in bigger cities across Canada. I love my 55 acre place. I stay home a lot now. We have the tourist back & cottagers. They scare me b/c they don>t take precautions. I have everything I want right here. If you can think about leaving. Gentle hugs...Brooke

If you could in the future move to a rural area, rent a nice room or apartment. Meet lots of nice people. Just sayin. Hugs! Brooke

Living in a big city myself I sure know what you are going throuh, it's pretty much the same her in Philly unfortunately, :-(
Try your best to do whatever you can to ease the stress of it all, walking in the early morning before the idiots are awake mhas bheen helping me a little but still get depressed here too.
Oh and I would like to choke all the idiots setting off the M80's evey night just to make noise till all hours of the morning. amnd scaring us and our pets, I don't see the point, it's not like you see anything, it's just noise!!
If not for the fact that my only family is here and the fact that I don't drive I would love to get out of the city!!
Hugs and prayers my friend, I know what you are going through!!
