Dentist and Z
First, I want to state how happy I am to have found DailyStrength.com and the Widows and 'widowers support group. I love that it is an active group and the outpouring of love, support, insight, comments, suggestions, commisserations, and even criticisms, has been wonderful. Thank you ALL. And now... Today I had a toothache and so I left work to go to my dentist -- who could find nothing wrong (which is good, I guess) but he said I was overdue for a cleaning and so I got a cleaning. I also am scheduled for a deep cleaning later on, and, I negotiated a good deal for whitening (which is NOT covered by insurance). I then came home and WORKED -- for work. It is tedious work but has to be done. Oh well. Z is coming over later to "talk" about "things". Z is my stepdaughter. She is all of 20 years old. I actually do not like her very much, nor do I trust her. I have found her to be, since she was 11 years old, mean and manipulative. And, extremely selfish. In fact, she is very like her mother in her "way of thinking" -- "logically". (But her mother is actually nicer...) So, she is coming over to discuss issues of the estate, of the house, the life insurance, the car, etc. I called my lawyer (who is also my good friend and was very close to my honey) and got some advice from him, vis-a-vis, what to say to her. The estate: has 24k. Claims against estate total: 35.5k. The house: mine, not part of the estate The car: sold, money is in estate Lawsuit: I do not know, lawyers still evaluating evidence that is it. Nothing more to say. Life insurance: I am sole beneficiary, no one's business how I deal with it. Done! She will try and manipulate me to tell her more. MUM's the word. I hate being in this situation. My inclination is to be open. It is who I am. Grrrr. OK, thats all for now, folks.
