Decisions, Decisions
I'm trying to decide for myself how I want to handle this case. I kind of have a choice of just doing what I need to do to defend myself, or being more aggressive in taking a stand that the situation has been an injustice to my child and I - basically pushing the issue.
I am not quite sure yet and may need to speak with the psychiatrist about it before I can make a more educated decision. I am still furious that this court can make me take anger management, parenting classes and force me to make my son cut his hair even. A large part of me wants to speak out because I firmly believe that the reason so much is gotten away with is because of the inability or unwillingness of people to speak out and go against the powers that be. And really, I feel the same way. I don't have the finances, time or energy really to fight it, but I want to and I know for an absolute certainty that if I was financially well off, I would definitely do so.
But, as with most things, I have to look at the reality. I'm a student, a single mom, and what is best for my children and family as a whole has to be taken into account. Then I have to balance this reality - my kids knowing I can feed/clothe and shelter them versus them learning to stand up for their rights, to not be led by fear and even in part that a free country requires freedoms to be upheld. And I guess this is okay because the kids also need to learn the reality versus principles struggle, as well :)
It make take some heavy weighing of consequences, and I will definitely get as much info as I can before making this decision, but it is certainly one of those times that one would really like to duck back under the covers and wish it away...

I\'ve been reading all of your journals lately and I really wish for you that there was an easy solution. I think what is happening is just awful.
I think you are a wise mom and woman and you will ultimately make the best decision for everyone involved.
Just yesterday I read your journal entry of 7/8 about your daughters sexual abuse.
after reading your thoughts there, I simply do not see how anyone could question your parenting!
I think your children are blessed to have you for a mom.
Thank you, Twirlergirl. My dad came and visited with me this evening and said that he would support my family in any way, go to lawyers with us and if things got bad even try to pull a few strings if necessary (which he has never offered to anyone I know of in his life). He was also really upset and said that even though it\'s too late to help my son with that school that maybe someone standing up and bringing light to the issue would help another child, as my dad has also heard from too many other parents that their kids suffered through that particuar school. It makes me feel a little better about wanting to take this on to know I have that support. So, unless the psychiatrist thinks it would be harmful to my family, I am ready to take it on.
Good for you. I think it is important that they think twice before pulling this stunt. What they have done is very serious.
