Dealing with Wills
so I found out that my parents had set up their will to decide their assetsĀ by percentage except for a few things they specifically gave to other people.
My sister gets the house she lives in and its furnishings, etc... in a Trust to take care of her.
My brother gets all of my father's tools. He was a mechanic and had alot of tools. And he gets my father's guitar, a 1943 Electric Gibson and a tube amp. This was the only thing I asked from them when they wanted to know if I wanted anything left to me. But they never changed the will even tho they asked my brother and he said I could have it.
but the percentage is as follows for all the other assets:
My Sister 20%
My Brother 35%
Me 45%
When I told my brother this he asked why they did that. I told them it was because they knew the houses that they wanted to give to us were not worth the same amount and that the one they wanted me to have was worth more so they divided the assets so that we could have the houses they wanted. He said that that wasn't fair.
I said well maybe they did it because they had been paying out money to you for twenty plus years and they were trying to make it a little more even.
He is still in denial to the fact that they probably spent over $150,000 on him over the lsat couple decades while inthe same amount of time they maybe spent $15.000 helping me. If my parents did give me the 10% more to compensate for this, good for them but it isn't going to be any where near as much as he has gotten form them already.
Oh, well he is going to have to live with it, That is the way it is.

Yes it\'s what it is. Well, it sounds like things are moving along and the will settled. Too bad about the 1943 Electric Gibson. I guess it is up to your brother now. And from what you have written before it may not be forth coming. That leads me back to your \"That is the way it is\" statement. And reminds me of that Rolling Stones line-You can\'t always get what you want-but if you try, sometimes, you might find what you need.
Best of luck with the afterwards of all this.

Forgot that part
