DAY TRIP

Gardening is about enjoying the smell of things growing in the soil, getting dirty without feeling guilty, and generally taking the time to soak up a little peace and serenity.  ~Lindley Karstens, noproblemgarden.com   THIS PRETTY MUCH DESCRIBES MY POINT OF VIEW ON GARDENING. I KNOW I HAVE FRIENDS ON LINE THAT FEEL THE SAME WAY.I MISSED WRITING YESTERDAY. THE SUN CAME OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ALMOST 2 WEEKS SO I TOOK FULL ADVANTAGE OF IT BY SPENDING TIME IN MY GARDENS. OF COURSE NOT ALL THE DAY WAS SPENT THERE. IN THE EARLY A.M. I DUG OUT MY NEW SEWING MACHINE, READ THE DIRECTIONS, SET IT UP, AND SEWED A HEAD WRAP. I WAS MOST IMPRESSED WITH THE MACHINE AND THE JOB I DID. THEN I HAD TO DRIVE MY DAUGHTER TO WORK. NEXT A FEW ERRANDS. THEN SOME YARD WORK. IN THE AFTERNOON I HAD A NAIL APPOINTMENT AND BY THE TIME I GOT HOME IT WAS TIME TO MAKE SUPPER. HUBBY CLEANED UP FROM SUPPER WHILE I ZOOMED BACK TO MY GARDENS TO FINISH UP WEEDING AND THINNING THINGS OUT. THEN AT 7:00 WE HAD TO GO TO A SMALL BIRTHDAY PARTY. WE GOT HOME AROUND 8:30 AND I WAS BEAT SO I PREPARED FOR BED AND CAUGHT UP ON SOME OF MY TV SHOWS. A BUSY DAYS.TODAY MY GIRLFRIEND THAT I WENT TO ONTARIO WITH IS COMING WITH ME ON ONE OF OUR SUMMER DAY TRIP ADVENTURES. WE ARE GOING TO THIS FABULOUS NURSERY ( PLANTS) LOCATED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. THEY HAVE BEAUTIFUL PLANTS OF ALL SIZES, TYPES AND GOOD PRICES, ALSO VERY HEALTHY. THEY ALSO CARRY UNIQUE GARDEN ITEMS. I USUALLY SPEND A FAIR AMOUNT THERE BUT WE ARE LATER GOING THIS YEAR SO I DON'T NEED VERY MUCH. BUT I STILL LOVE TO LOOK. THEN WE ARE OFF TO THE MASSTOWN MARKET. WE WILL HAVE DINNER THERE. EVERYTHING IS HOMEMADE...YUMMY. THEY HAVE A LARGE BAKERY SO WE WILL BE BRINGING HOME SOME TREATS. THEY ALSO HAVE A PLANT SHOP AND GIFT STORE. REALLY NEAT STUFF! WE WILL LEAVE AT 9:00 AND GET HOME AROUND 3:00. JUST A NICE DAY. THEN I WILL STILL HAVE TIME TO WORK OUTSIDE BECAUSE THE SUN IS SHINING TWO DAYS IN A ROW. SHHHH... DON'T WANT TO JINX IT.WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF PLANNING OUR NEW GARAGE. MICHAEL HAS THE AREA ALL STAKED OFF, 24 BY 24. IT IS ON THE LOT NEXT TO THE HOUSE. THIS YEAR ( NOW TIL FALL) WE WILL HAVE THE CONCRETE PAD LAID AND THE STONE FOR THE DRIVEWAY PUT IN. EVENTUALLY THE DRIVE WILL BE PAVED BUT NOT FOR A FEW YEARS. THEN HE WILL EITHER BUY A GARAGE KIT FROM THE HARDWARE STORE OR BUY HIS OWN MATERIALS. WE WILL HAVE TO SEE WHICH WAY IS CHEAPER. HE WILL BUILD IT IN THE SPRING.WELL, I BEST GO AND GET DRESSED AS TIME IS CREEPING ON. EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT DAY. DEBBIE

I am so glad you finally got some sunshine....I certainly know how depressing it can be to have rain, rain, rain....yuck. Debbie, I think we could have great fun together if we lived close, we have so many things in common. Except of course you have those baby doggies and I have a horse doggie, LOL......I hope you have a great day....it seems the summer whizzes by so dang fast, I just wish it was forever. I certainly like a little season change, but the winters are just wayyyyy too long for me. Hugs

WE had our fun in the sun, now it is going to rain for maybe 2 days. I actually could go for a little storm. As I was whizzing by one of the Nursery\'s I visit I saw a 50% off sign out of the corner of my eye. Put the brakes on instantly and whipped in and came out with 6 plants I do not need and short on grocery money. I have already figured out where the are going of course. Don\'t you just lovr summer and wrecking your manicure. I savor everyday and try not to think of what will come eventually. Wish I could jump on my new sewing machine but can\'t find the time. Our vege gardens are kicking them out. We are eatng from them already. I mulch with newspaper and straw on top of that so there is n weeding going on, but only in the vege gardens. The flower gardens are preened after I weed, works good. Well have a good week-end. NJ xo

I\'m so glad your finaly getting some sun, do enjoy it without injurying yourself:>)
It is probably a good thing that I have no way to get out and about, all the local nurseries are having huge plant sales trying to eliminate stock now that the season is getting over and if I could but get to them I would spend way more then I could afford and Neal would be living on beans for a long time.
I am still trying desperately to catch up with the weeds/grass cutting thing, I just don\'t have the stamina to keep going at the rate it would take to really get things done but that doesn\'t stop me from trying and at least I\'m out in the sun.
