Day 9 of self improvement
I feel a lot better today and although still smoking a few times a day, I am confident that I will kick the addiction.
I went to the hardware store and supermarket today and stocked up a bit more again. I went south to a pretty country town that has a low infection rate and it was a beautiful drive through the hills on a lovely day. I should be able to manage for quite a while now without going to the shops.
I got more plants for the food garden and soil amendments so that is under control now. The hardware/garden centre was also pretty stripped of plants but I got some fennel and oregano, and still waiting on the broccoli and garlic seedlings. I got another butane gas stove with a lot more functionality than the one ring burner I had. It can be used as a grill or frypan with lid, it actually looks like those square electric frypans you get. It was marked right down and it’s so much cheaper to pay for butane than electricity here.
I took Pepper for two walks on the trip so she is a tired happy puppy. She loves travelling so much. My weight was down another smidgen again today, WTF. That doesn’t make sense but I’m happy about it.
Keeping up my Spanish lessons but it looks like it will be a long time before I get to try it out on someone.

good to hear from you....it seems to me your going into winter planting things? wtf? spring is planting time....you in down under aussie land now should be into fall....
Yes Bill you’re right it’s autumn, but because we have Mediterranean weather (Remember lol) and no snow we grow a lot of different things during winter. Does it snow where you are? That would stop you gardening for sure.
Here in the northern sub-tropics, winter is my more productive garden. The summers are the season we slide into survival mode. I don't care to do the research, but I'll bet more people die of heat stroke each hear than what freeze to death in the arctic. By May, it is already too hot for most of the traditional food plants.
Podemos practicar el espanol, si quisieras.
For what it's worth
If you are using on-line resources to study Spanish, I might suggest you look up "chat para aprender ingles." That will bring up the chat rooms for Spanish speakers who are **supposed** to be studying English. Nothing raises helpful tolerance like avoiding your own homework. I learned more Spanish teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) to Spanish speakers than I did in Spanish class. Far and away more.
Sorry for how this pandemic has put Spanish dreams on hold for us both, Shaky. I'd love to be looking forward to my first stay come May 19th in my little house I rented in Mexico, but it looks like flying there then won't be an option due to COVID-19 restrictions. Argh.
Glad you figured out how to get outside for a bit to a town that's not as much of a pandemic hot spot. Your garden sounds lovely. And congrats on your weight loss. Me, too, I found out that I lost a little weight in this morning's weigh in. Any good news like that is unusually welcome these days, isn't it?
Yes sometimes we get snow in winter
I miss living and gardening in the tropics and subtropics Arfie. I grew Asian veg in the summers and/or provided afternoon shade. Don’t forget you can grow herbs and spices like ginger and turmeric plus great tropical fruit. Tropical ornamental gardens are the best too, all that colour and palms. Sigh.
I will have a look at that Spanish site you suggested. Gracias.
Muji isn’t the timing weird for this virus? I finally had something to look forward to and work towards in life and now it’s gone for who knows how long. I’m glad it happened before I went travelling again and not after though. Living in a van at the moment would be really challenging with virus and state borders closed. Also they’re closing all camping spots because of the 2 person rule. I hope it’s over with by the time you retire.
