Day 3 post op
Things are going well! I for sure know I had major surgery, but all things considered.... not too shabby! This is a piece of cake compared to my total knee replacement for sure! LOL! I am finally passing gas... however, it is not always gas that comes out, so I make sure I am on the pot when I 'pass' just to make sure! :) :)
I am talking a bit less pain meds now... still taking them, but I got it down to half a dose every 4 hrs from full dose every 6, which is progress in the right direction.
Today... I have met my h2o intake of 64 oz and will be close to 80 by end of day! Woot! Woot!
My protein goal is 80-100 gms per day. Today I am at 58. If I can finish off the other half of my protein drink later, it will bring me to 79.
I had a 1/4 cup of creamed broccoli soup for dinner (was yummy!) I put some graded cheddar cheese and some LF ricotta in it, so there was a couple gms of protein that I didn't officially count, which would bring me to over 80 for the day!
This feels pretty darn good to be to this point already!! And as I learn what works best for me, I will do even better with it.
Also, I am so glad I had some creamed soups to use... All the sweet stuff was starting to get to me. Puddings, choc protein shakes, apple sauce.... even my liquid calcium is sweet and so is my pain meds! So, soup tonight was so nice!
I am thinking tho that I need to try and make my own creamed soup so it is not so salty! My taste buds are so sensitive to that now...
Smells... WOW!! Terence (my son) made toast last night... holy cow the smell was like a smell from heaven! LOL! I had no desire to eat toast, I just wanted to smell it forever:) Then this Am Rich (my hubby) made a couple of fried eggs.... and that too smelled like heaven! I cannot explain it other than to say it was like my nose was on high alert in the best way possible!! :) Again, no desire to eat it... just wanted to smell it!
One last thing... FIBER!! I have been adding fiber to just about everything! Either ground flax or benifiber. I've not moved on to the metamucil yet because it thickens stuff and I cannot get it down quick enough to have consumed it before its turned to jello! Its too soon to know about BM's and such... but I am hopeful that by being proactive I can prevent constipation or at least keep it at a minimum :)
I almost forgot to add how wonderful my hubby has been!! He goes for walks with me EVERY TIME!! It is so cute... no matter what hes doing, he stops and goes with me! :) :) I am so lucky to have him :)
