Day 1 of New Life
Today was the first day of me trying to be positive. I think it went well. I managed to introduce myself to someone without mentioning that I was disabled and why. I like to tell people so they can break stereotypes of what they think a bipolar and schizophrenic person looks like. But doing that also defines me as that in their mind. I haven't had many people run away from me telling them that, and most people are kind. I just have to be careful with work, since the bosses can find a reason to fire me if they don't like it. Of course, I do fine sabotaging myself by not going in all the time. I'm skipping work tomorrow to go on a date with Geo to see The Dark Knight Rises. The theater has discount prices on Tuesdays. I know I'm going to go over my calories for the day with popcorn and possibly buffalo wings after, but hey, I've been good for the past couple of days. I need to treat myself to things like that sometimes or else I go crazy.
I think that so far I've had a successful Day 1. I did have to leave work early because I was getting a migraine, but I rested for a bit and it went away. (good thing #1- I made it into work today). I met a girl there who is just coming back from a year off. I don't remember her from last year when I was there, but I should have met her. Oh well, we met today and it was nice. I had some people to talk to while at the Information Desk. I cringed internally when my boss said that we weren't dependable, but I have been dropping my line so I understand why she said that. I let her know that I wasn't coming in tomorrow, and so that's okay. They have a new call center that I want to work at. My friend from Managed Care, Tiffany, works in there now. (good thing #2- I got to talk to Tiffany today). The weather was nice here today.. it looked like it was going to storm all day, but it didn't in the end. (good thing #3- I didn't get rained on going to and from work). I'm trying to start anew here, and so let's see how it goes!

Great going on Positive attitude day one!
If you really want the job in the new call center you will have to show them you are dependable. If you had a paying job would you have went home if you were getting a migraine? Or would you take some Pain med and deal with it? Good Luck on getting into the new center.
yeah, a positive day and great outlook. joycemarilyn makes a very good point about the migraineissue. we all feel sick at some time at our jobs, but have to buck up and deal, it isnt easy. i hate to sound nasty here, but do you really think it was a good idea, if you were scheduled, to tell her you cant come in? the movie sounds like fun, but you will need to do it on a scheduled da off i the job. continue on finding and writing down all the positives, it helps put things in perspective. hugss
