Damn it!

Why is it when you try to do something nice, it gets thrown back in your face?  I did what I thought was a good deed to help someone, and they get mad and say I'm interfering.  Never try to help someone out!  Not only that, I likely saved their pet's life as I doubt that cage had been cleaned out in months and the poor animal was starving for water.  Yeah, my house is cluttered, but it's not filled with an inch of feces all over the floor like that cage was. 
This hurts because I believe I'm on this planet to help people.  Why should I ever bother?
And of course, the daughter lies and says I beat her because I tapped her on the cheek after she kicked me so hard it bruised my leg.  It didn't even leave a mark on her! And it was reflex from the pain.  I sent her to the corner as she kept blaming her brother for the kick (odd he was on the other side of the room.)  She thinks she doesn't need to accept the responsibility for her actions.   Just like her birth mother!
