curious
it's curious how when I am present to how lonely I am (like last night and this morning)
- the thought of doing something
out there in the world seems to have no value unless I am with someone.
An old friend of mine once said, 'when making plans for something you want to do
you have to be willing to commit to doing it alone if you can't find anyone to do it with.'
That's really been a lifelong journey/struggle for me.
And it was a helpful piece of wisdom. Perhaps there's a balance to find in this too.
Anyways. I liked this cartoon. It seems my struggles inspire so many journals.
The image really speaks to me! :)

Gmorning Marko Polo.
I love that cartoon. I feel that way but it’s all my own fault for not being savvy about unpredictability of humans. Or knowing what natures lurk beneath false premises or pretenders. But that’s only one angle of observation. There are always many angles people are viewing from and vantage points we could never know because we DON’T walk in everyone else’s shoes.
You live and learn.
I’m sorry you’re feeling loneliness. I have terrible bouts of that myself. I’m trying to take small proactive steps and reaching out, even if I am rejected. I find a lot of folks hide from their own loneliness by avoidance. By keeping focused on all the other things in life that cover it up and push it out of the way. It all goes back to intimacy and being vulnerable enough to attempt everything that goes along with it.
I met up with a friend yesterday who I don’t see often, who just unloaded years worth of difficult stuff she had gone through and I felt really grateful that someone felt they could do that with me. Being an overly sensitive empath has good things about it - not all bad.
Isn’t life all about finding the silver linings?
thanks Nikki!
balance for sure! like we talk about here.
Big hug for you sweetie.... I am sorry that you're feeling lonely...... I'm glad that you get out and about even on your own.... Have you ever thought of doing something that's for 'singles'?
thanks Janet! Not yet!
smile....It could just mean for you getting out and meeting people... lol
I'm sorry you're feeling lonely, Mark. I like the image, too. Making lemonade out of lemons. Have a great day!
thanks judy! i'm filling my day with good things. i went out for an iced coffee, then cleaned up around here
and played with Blue to fill him up and help him have his day, then went grocery shopping and soon I'll go
out to the Hammer Museum. Sometimes the loneliness or the conundrum I have can help me reach for
more answers...and right now I am definitely seeing the value of acknowledging my own experience...
it's a not either or thing (your experience or mine) - just ready to take on the day now and get out there do good stuff.
When I was at the market I noticed a lot of people there were kind of grimacing and staying focused.
I can appreciate the need to stay focused and practical but most of the time I am also happy, smiling
and looking outward - not clamping down. At least now I know what I am looking for :)
Different strokes for different folks :)
Absolutely! We're all different, and as long as you're happy and looking forward, that's all that matters! Enjoy your time at the museum!
thanks judy!
