Crazy Day

Well, I got the stuff done that I needed to do today. I went to work, where they didn't have anything for me to do in Managed Care, so I worked the Information Desk instead. It was nice being back there with Nadine and the other volunteer, and of course Daisy. It was hectic at times, and at time stressful, but it was good to get a bit of stress in my life. It makes me appreciate the silences that much more. I then went to the store with Geo (actually, 2 stores) and came home and waited for his mom and sister to come over. Well, his sister had too much to drink (his mom drove) when they went for lunch before coming to see us, and she was crazy. She was jumping all over Geo for some unknown reason. And when I say jumping, I mean just that. She jumped into his lap, onto his shoulder, and kept trying to knock him over. I had no idea what was going on, and his mom kept on trying to get her to stop. At one point, she took off her boots so she could jump on him more. It was just the strangest sight, seeing a 36 year old girl jumping all over her 31 year old brother. Still it made me laugh, if not uncomfortably. I mean, what is the proper response to something like that?
It's cold here today! I know it's nothing compared to what the rest of the country is going through, but it's in the 40's here, and supposed to get down into the 30's tonight. Then it will be back to 80 degrees tomorrow probably, if not the next day. We always get a short burst of cold in the winter, and then it goes back up to the regular temperature. We get a couple of those bursts, and then our winter is over. We don't get a lot of cold, and I think that's okay. That it's so hot the rest of the year I don't like. I wish it would be in the 70s instead of the 80s all the time. Summer it gets into the 90's with high humidity, making it feel like it's in the 110's. Ah, Miami weather... something that people love in the winter and hate in the summer. We don't even have a spring or a fall... just summer year round except for those cold spots that are our winter.
Mood today was good... I've been having a long stretch of good days, and I'm happy. I thought I was going to be down today because I was talking with my friend Andrea last night and she mentioned that her brother in law hugged her for the last time, and I was thinking about my dad and how I wish I could have had a last hug with him. It sucks to hug someone for the last time, but at least she got the chance. Her brother in law has terminal liver cancer and he's going to go soon. She and her husband live about 5 hours away by car from where he lives, so it's not like they can go there all the time. Her husband drives down there as much as he can to spend time with his brother, but Andrea holds down the house and takes care of the things at home. Anyway, I thought it was going to make me depressed, and if I get depressed in the next couple of days I will know what caused it. But so far I'm not depressed. Well, I feel sad that I lost my dad right now, but it's temporary sadness, the kind that passes easily. Depression is something totally different.
Work today was stressful. The girl who works in the switchboard room was out on vacation, and so we were getting all the calls that were supposed to be going to her. It meant a lot of looking up numbers on a paper and not knowing what number to call. Before I knew that the calls were going to us, I tried to transfer someone to the switchboard, and the call came right back to me. I figured something was going on, so I just tried to find the number the person wanted. The phone was ringing a lot, and people were asking for appointments, and just general chaos that is the Information Desk. Luckily the other volunteer there spoke fluent Spanish, and could answer the questions in Spanish that I couldn't understand.
Food today was good.. I'm in my calorie range. I had a doughnut again, and some baked snacks. I had chicken soup for breakfast and dinner, so I could afford the calories. I'm going to have some of Geo's homemade Key Lime Pie for desert, too, and I can fit that in my calories as well. It's amazing how much I can eat and still be in my calorie range. It makes me think I'm doing something wrong, but I don't see how. Even if I underestimate my food, it's not going to be by more than 10% or so, and so I continue to lose weight. Hey, if I can diet like this, then why not?

I saw on the weather map that you were cold in Florida! It is expected here in MIchigan - 24 today but not by you! At least you can be look forward to only a couple of days where as here it will be a couple of months! But I don\'t really mind Michigan winters so much.
Yummy key lime pie! Heck I love any pie! LOL
