cooking wings........hmmmph!

helloooooo,

the weather has changed to cold, clear and windy.  this flattens me into a brain pain body aching monster under the covers.  i try to keep the monster under wraps......and luckily i was able to sleep the majority of the severe head ache away......more than a regular headache, less than a full on migraine.  wowzer, whoa nelly.......feels pretty reigned in now.

i cancelled my sleep doc appt for tomorrow, because my symptoms were so rough......don't want to risk driving when i feel so bad.  need to rechedule soon......in the meanwhile i thawed out a package of chicken wings.  kroger has a small section of marked down meats so i'm always on the prowl. this time i found the wings for $3.16, pretty good thinks i.

so today i looked up online recipes for crispy baked chicken wings.  reviewed several and settled on one.  pretty easy, i cut the wings into the sizes you get at the restaurant, rinsed and patted them dry with paper towels.  the oven was preheating to 250 degrees.....then i mixed up two TB of baking powder, a bit of salt and some black pepper.......and got out a baking sheet, covered it in aluminum foil......then put two metal racks on top.......then i sprayed canola oil on the rack to keep the chicken from sticking.

i baked the wings at 250 degrees for a  half hour, then turned up the heat to 400 degrees.  the instructions tell you to bake them at this high heat for 30 minutes, then flip them and bake for another 30 minutes.  i am not a fan of buffalo wing sauce or any sauce really, but i do like to dip the wings in either ranch or blue cheese dressing and serve them with carrots &/or celery sticks.  i have baby carrots but no celery today, so carrots win!

i just took a shower which i think accounts for this feeling of comfort and better function.  hot steamy water helps my sinuses, my achy muscles.......i kind of dread showers cause then i need to use lotion.  i have very dry skin in the winter and need to slather it on.....i wish the lotion would spray out of the shower in a final rinse cycle like fabric softener, but no, it's up to me to be all bendy.

i have a variety of lotions i use, i got them at discount places like ross, tj maxx, marshalls....they are fancy, made if France and England and dreamy far away places.......not made in Ohio or Wisconsin ......it makes me feel like I get to go on lotion vacation and travel via these fragrant soft lotions.  silly? yeah, probably, but if it works to lift my spirit it's worth it.

time to flip the wings, one moment please.  so far they don't look crispy at all......hmmm, i decided to bump up the heat to 425 and see what happens in the next 30 minutes.

i'm going to visit instantwatcher.com and pick out some movies to watch on netflix tonight......hang in there, keep warm and cozy.....hopefully the wings will turn out well and look all golden & gorgeous soon!

I hope the chicken wings were good!! They sure sound good.

It’s cold here and snowing. We never get days of snow like this Maybe the angels are having a pillow fight over Portland Lol

The cold makes my joints cranky-er too
I like your idea of luxury lotions and how they make you feel. I use dove soap which reminds me of my mom. So it’s a nice reminder it was her soap of choice.

I have been snacking on baby carrots and hummus. Eating a salad a day of my own making. Lettuce (ice berg) cherry tomato cheese a sprinkle of. Boiled egg olive oil/vinaigrette or ranch dressing
My Instapot makes wonderful hard boiled eggs. And the pressure cooker is great I put chicken breasts in water (skinless) and pressure cook it for 2hours or more. Comes out moist and easily shredded. So that meat can be used in all kinds of ways. I make soups chili salads with it.
Well I had better close for now Ruthie
Thank you for your journals and patience with my late replies. I know though you understand we all are just getting through our day as best we can
Keep that song going in your heart Ruthie. ❤️ You
