Cooking For One
I made stuffing tonight and ate out of the spoon I cooked with, dipping it back in the bowl for several servings. Sounds strange, doesn't it? I'm one of those clean cooks who would never think of dipping a spoon that's been in my mouth back into the serving bowl. Such is the case of cooking for one. It took a few moments for me to realize that no one else was going to eat it, and that it didn't matter if I ate right out of the serving bowl. So I did.
Which brings me to the beauty of living alone. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have my husband back, but since that's not possible, living alone is the next best thing. I love decorating the way I want the house to look. I love staying up late and no one around to remind me of how I should go to bed. I love dressing in horrible bed clothes, then crawling in bed with a black cap on my head. And I love eating from a serving bowl with a spoon that's been in my mouth.
So the next time a friend or relative asks me when I'm going to get married again, I'll say, absolutely never. I'm having too much fun.

I hope that one day I can get to the point where you are. Don\'t get me wrong, I like all those same things that you do, but I really really hate being alone since I have never lived alone in all my life. I get very lonely. Thank goodness for my dog, Ace, he has been such a good companion and company for me, but it\'s just not the same.
Hugs,
Jean
You have had a tough journey and so many changes.....it\'s good to hear that you are doing okay. There is something to be said for doing only what one wants to do. I miss the companionship of another being.....my dogs just don\'t cut it for me. I am adjusting but I can\'t really say that I like it.....just that I accept it.
Hugs, Dianne
I hope one day I can feel good about being alone today. As I woke up this morning I started to cry because I am alone - no one to make breakfast for and no one to talk with - I am happy for you
There are a lot of advantages of living alone. You never have to give an account about what you are doing to anyone else. You can decorate the way you want to and wear whatever you want to around the place. You can dance naked in the living room if you chose to do it. There are also advantage to being in a relationship. They are both good. Don\'t fold into pressure from anyone about your own choices because they are exactly that your own choices. I know I have to do that for myself as well. We are a rare breed. Today is my daughters 26th birthday. I am going over to her place sometime this morning. I am sure Grant will be taking her out as well. I hope your weekend is great and let\'s stay in touch over the Christmas holidays. All the best from Diane B.
Good for you..I am happy to see you finally enjoying yourself. Having a partner is wonderful but sharing decisions isn\'t always. Enjoy your cooking spoon
sounds like my sentiments, being alone I do what I want, when I want and if I don\'t want, to heck with it....take it easy...hugs, Sandi
This is an area where I see great progress. I used to sit in my driveway and cry because I couldn\'t stand going into an empty house, now I run in and bolt the door so noone can get in. lol Seriously, I\'m one who has always relished solitude. I am lonely for my husband but not lonely in general. I have lots of social interaction balanced by alone time to recharge my batteries. No, I don\'t miss having someone to talk with over coffee in the morning. I like to sit quietly and read the paper. Someone here chirping at me would induce an instant headache. My husband used to bring me my tea and paper in bed. That I miss.
