Conversations with the Ex, Counseling, etc.
I am glad that my ex forgives me enough and loves me enough to continue our communication. He says the conversations are very healing for him. That is really all I can really hope for. I don't have any ulterior motives. I just want to be the friend I forgot to be when I decided to cheat on him.
The other day he told me he went on a date. At first I didn't really care considering we're not together anymore and the heartache I'm putting him through. But then I think, "Wow! Like didn't you just break up with me and you've already moved on???" It really made me question how long he had been wanting to date this other woman. But that is neither here nor there. He also talked about buying a house. It seems like he really tried to rub it in my face that he is moving on and there is definitely not a chance of us getting back together.
And you know what? I'm okay with it. When the pain first hit, I thought I would be depressed forever. But seeing how quickly he is or is trying to move on, I don't feel as bad anymore. The fact of the matter is, we are polar opposites. I don't know if that ever was going to work out. But he keeps saying things to make it look like a possibility we'd be together in the future. I wish he wouldn't do that. You're either done with me or you want to work it out. Instead, he has me in limbo.
Counseling was okay. She didn't really help me figure out anything. I felt like she was just there to listen to my pain or something. I have friends who can do that. I really don't need a complete stranger for that. I'm going to do one more session with her next week. Overall, I don't see myself continuing counseling. It felt like a waste of time.

WM, It seems that both you and your ex are doing as very well considering it has only been over a week.
You are ex are both in shock but you both are dealing with it well.
The next few months will be an absolute emotional roller coaster for the both of you.
Please don\'t be too hard on yourself.
Big hugs.
