Conversations with my mum over my sleep problems
"you need to have a very good reason and cant just say no. I know its your body but it impacts on us too its effecting me" using guilt trip and fear mongering to manipulate me.
ive said no 100 times and she doesnt care. no means nothing to her. no isnt good enough.
ive stated very clearly i want to see doctors and stay with medicine and doctors help.
ive just found out that thenew sleep medication i take has muscle twicthes and spasms as a side effect and that it can suddenly stop working (for sleep) for no reason.
i am out of my pain killers so have been using inadequate substitue.
i am going to use a different one tonight and take them during the day too
i am going to start halving the new sleep tabs to reduce them/stop them
i am waiting a response from my gp in regards to sleep tablets and problems
absolutely bulldozes her demands, completely ignores my consent, ridicules, manipulates and guilt trips me constantly, will not let this go.
ignores my no over and over
i do not trust her or feel safe and i am highly stressed about this
tells me that i must think properly about this as if i havent done so for months. Demands that i explain everything as if i am on trial, my reasons are my own and are meaningless to her anyway.
has proven time and time again that she doesnt care about my consent or my body.
will do anything to get her way even if it kills me.
Basically anything i say or do is invalid until i succumb to her will.

Hi - Sounds like you want to have your own health decisions in your hands but your parents are your caretakers so that makes things difficult. Is there another family member who could be a third party to listen to both sides and help work it through? Illnesses like ours affect not only us but those around us. As you are an adult, perhaps it's time to look into whatever kind of assisted living care you can manage that can be paid for by whatever funds you receive (presuming you don't work). Then you can have some independence and still have caregivers available when necessary. And it will also let your parents go on with their lives. I know it's hard to be dependent on folks but you are actually quite lucky you have them. So try to either get a third party involved or talk to your parents about seeing if you can get into independent living situation. What's happening is not healthy for any of you.
take care.
