Confession

Such amazing tough lessons.

i realized this morning that it is a saving grace that i am around a tight community. My mind, while serving this morning, went to a very paranoid vicious place , but thankfully it was challenged, by my own need to test and reconcile the reality of it, bY the nice kind people around me.

It really is a crazy addiction without cognition.

I get so disappointed in myself when I get this way, as in ‘why do I have to be this person?? But also perhaps it’s a quirky structure to my own self image and how it or I should be..

It’s not a good feeling when I feel ugly on the inside.

From a friend:

In these times, you and I are little people, without the power to make big changes in the world. But we can do small and meaningful things that bring peace to those around us, and hopefully inspire others to live by the principals of our faith...which if we could all do...would make the world we want to live in.. So, I would say, concentrate on following your vocation. Lead by inspiration. Stoicism teaches us to focus on what we can change...and not to waste worry and energy on things we can't change.
“Nothing is insignificant or negligible in the service of God.”

It sounds like you have low self esteem or a poor self concept. Correct me if I am wrong.

I have used Philippians 4:6-7 a lot to calm my anxiety, encourage prayer and thanksgiving and living in His peace by the guarding of my mind and heart in Christ Jesus. I lived on these 2 verses for a long time. I wrote it down on an index card and read it to myself, outloud, daily. Psychologist say to write positive affirmations (scriptures for me usually) out on index cards and reading them outloud 3 times a day for at least 3 weeks or longer, helps with anxiety, inner conflict and condemnation, and can give us peace, as in the verses above. I've found this has and does help me. I have verses taped to my walls and mirrors in my room and it reminds me to read them. Maybe this will help.

I think I am just learning to deal with those times when I can't be strong as I'd like,
as well those times I make mistakes, as well those times when I don't handle things
the best way that I'd like to. It's a point of growth, a kind of reconciling those
sets of standards that life asks to be fill ed with a kind of individual scaling down
of them with a compassionate lens. Thanks Bob!! :)

That's a lovely and insightful quote, Mark. I'm very sorry that you're struggling. A close friend of mine battles the same illness. He, too, often feels disappointed in himself - like he's a complete failure, because he cannot overcome his "inner demons." I will remind you, as I remind him - you are amazing! Your feelings don't reflect your worth. Your diagnosis does not define who you are. The illness itself can be cruel and unfair - and ugly. But your insides - your kind and caring heart; your wise and inquisitive mind; your "keep on, keeping on" attitude - are beautiful. I hope you feel better soon! Hugs.
